Food management?
Can you guys hint me a video or tipps on how to produce enough food? I have tons of mealwood but they take to much space to grow and run out fast...

3-4 meal lice per dude afaik, otherwise just look into the oni wiki and you'll find all the information you need.

At least 5 mealwood per dupe, anything less than that and you'll have food shortages. Personally I try to have a few extra beyond 5 per dupe so I end up with a surplus.

After mealwoods.. everyone has their own favorites, for myself i go find ice biomes and autoharvest all the Sleetwheats. Initially making Frost buns and then when I start autoharvesting Pincha peppers I also make Pepper bread.

You'll get enough with 4 mealwood plants per dupe and have some minimal leftovers, right now i'm at cycle 560 and it worked out without any shortage...

Just store whatever food you produce in a little co2 pit and you'll be fine for ages.

For morale purposes you only want to grow sleet wheat and pincha peppers then ranch for meat because pepper bread and bbq are the best boost...

From there the only way to make it long term is thro naturally growing sleet wheat grain and pincha peppers, dig your way to as many cold biomes as you can as fast as you can. Dont open them for the wheat right away. Dig around them and let them build up naturally, polution free as long as possible. Try to insulate and keep the air clean when you open them. Do the same thing with pincha peppers as you dig to the cold biomes. You may find ones with polution already so open them immediately and fix the polution or pump in CO2. When your ready to open the clean ones try to preserve the air pockets by openning them in ways to keep the odd gases in: hydrogen only pockets from the bottom, chlorine only from the top and so on. Then you can eat pepper bread with the highest morale boost forever with lil work. later you can set up hydro farms and what not but im in cycle 2100 in my current build, i have 2mil calories built up, have over 20k sleet wheat all naturally grown...

Hatches are the easiest to start ranching right away but eventually youll want to ranch most of the creatures for their perks, slicksters are amazing CO2 eaters, pufts are great for for poluted O2 and making slime, bleach stone, or oxylite. Even light bugs can be used for powering solar panels and raw egg, not to mention the egg shells you need to make more steel...

Early game: Mealwood is easiest, and you'll currently need 4-5/dupe. As was mentioned, store food at the lowest point in your base, so that it is within CO2. This prevents spoilage, though isn't great at removing any germs that may be on the food. Chlorine is great at that, but is lighter than CO2.

It is also possible to grow five bristle berries adjacent to the dupe-printer as it gives off light, which while slower growing provide a small but nice bump in calories. (266 2/3rd kcal per day versus 200 kcal per day per plant.)

Processing Meal Lice into Liceloaf also provides a few extra calories, but consumes a lot of water. (+500 kcal.)

Mid game: Try to preserve the natural plants, as they can provide a massive amount of high end food for minimal effort from the dupes. Also note that Sleet Wheat is both the seed and "edible" portion, so you can potentially accidentally cause its extinction on the rock. (Though, it tends to be more trouble to farm than it is worth.)

Cooking Peppernuts and Sleet Wheat into bread is an easy way to create a lot of food easily. (4,000 kcal) And with the number of wild plants, even with the vastly slower growth rate, it becomes very easy to sustain the colony on the food front. Doubly so with the free-range meat now providing plenty of fodder for BBQ.

Though, it seems like all of my dupes hate the taste of Pepper Bread, as they always seem to do the tounge-scrape animation after they eat it.

Berry sludge is the one that lasts the longest with no spoil time

I wouldn't waste all too much dirt on Mealwood as it is strangely difficult to create, you'll need that dirt for domesticated Sleetwheat or Fertilizer.. Better to just make enough Melwood as you need.

Sure, if you don't mind wasting even more valuable water to make liceloaf your dupes can survive on less than 5 mealwood per dupe. For raw meal lice and pickled meal it is mathematically impossible for 1 dupe to survive on less than 5 mealwoods. Also i'm fairly sure that while 50kg of water gets you 500cal extra with Liceloaf, the same 50kg of water towards Gristle Blossom gets you over 800cal and better morale food.. so why anyone would ever make Liceloaf with the Microbe musher is beyond me.

Personally, I move my food production off crappy meal lice asap and it doesn't take very long to dig towards ice biomes for autoharvesting Sleetwheat, and digging out slime biomes to autoharvest mushrooms for that matter. By the time I've completely moved over to better foods I still have tons of dirt lying around.

Also never had any real problem making enough dirt to meet demand later game.

Look into Balmlily-fed Dreckos for producing food too.

Am doing as you said with one ice biome right now but I notice it starts to warm up pretty fast and there is alot of poluted oxygen in it because it is right next to slime which lead poluted water in it plus poluted ice... so what am I going to do?

Well I have built a cold farm in my base. It was not easy to create but now that i have it down, my dupes can eat the best food on a regular basis. I encourage you to try and build a sleet wheat farm. It is not too easy but when you manage it you will feel great !

Yea I looked up a video on that but I have far more problems than this right now even though am just at cycle 120

Here would be my main advice though, take it as you will : Don't ask for other peoples' solutions. Or only when you have tried for 10 hours. Don't hesitate to start a new colony when you feel you are in a dead end. The pleasure in this game is from the creativity you can develop and that is your own ! Don't spoil yourself away from it by asking too many advice. Just be confident in your ability to find your own solutions to the problems you face.
I guess you are right but I don´t want to ruin my first good ruin by a stupid thing like food.

Well space should not be a limitation on your mealwood production... And you can always eat fried dirt ! I would say do all you can and don't be afraid to lose your run. Also maybe don't play too fast. play on normal speed, take time to observe your dupes behaviour. And if your run seems doomed take a little bit of time to write down what worked and what didn't and what you can make better on your next run.

If you dig one small gap into an ice biome you can build an insulated 'airlock' sealing the hole off, then plant a wheezewort inside the airlock to slow down temperature exchange.. I find that does the trick in preserving the ice biome's coldness.
