Good uses for Sweepy?
I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with builds to make use of sweepy.
I love how adorable it is, and it really doesnt eat up much power, or cost a lot of refined metal... But he does not pick up much, the docks cant hold much, he cant get very far and his dock is big/machine so it would break some room tags.

So far I've only thought up a few reasons to build it.
-Adorable
-Extends the effective reach of an autosweeper *(which has to be used to automate material transfer) For a fraction of the cost
-*(havent tested) Wandering Decor bombs with Space artifacts placed on their heads.

I've not done much with them, but I've been pondering how to use them since I saw the update; and drawing mostly blanks. But most things just seem to work better with more Autosweepers.

What are the uses for Sweepy that you've found? Perhaps a build where its an effecient addition? Or maybe the obvious is glaring at me in front of my face and I've missed it?

EXTRA: MOD SUGGESTION:
I think it would be awesome if the Dock had an Conveyer rail output on it. I wouldnt even mind the horrendously small pick ups if it could just keep working.

Didn't find any. Cute, but completely and utterly useless.

I plan (not jet tested) to use sweepy for my pwater boiler. IF it is not a mashine but a "critter" that can crall into 1 tile high oppenings or open doors it can be used to collect the sand our of a hot zone where dubs may burn, need a suit or even worse ruin the vacuum. Of couse it will try to sweep up the water too but i muss see how this will turn out.
The other usefull thing is IF it is collecting bottles too it can be used to help to lower the work on the Algae Terrarium.
Its also a nice idea to use sweepy in places where no room is left for "drains" aka Mesh Tile or autosweepers. Collecting the piss by the atmosuits or the generator room can be helpfull. Polymer Press produce not much water its maybe better to use sweepy

that are my ideas about sweepy.

I'm struggling to see much practical use for them since they don't cross the 3-wide spaces I leave for airflow between rooms. Right now I have one picking up stuff from the printing pod but that's not really a "need." Maybe in a long ranch as opposed to multiple autosweepers?

Anyways, definitely is cute and will play around with it.

maybe picking up food and seeds in farm rooms?

well placed sweepers are faster. The only new this sweepy bring to the table is the liquit colection. That and the hope its not melting near magma becouse THAT will bring its 100kg of refind iron to the nr1 spot in high danger places.
Also a good use: put ice on it and let it sweep the cool water when its melts.

its cute but crap, it can only pick up tiny amounts at a time and the dock cant store much.. the only thing i'd use it for is to make my base more interesting

I like it. My base has many wild critters living in it, like Pips, normal and Glossy Drecklets, Pufts and their waste (Phosphorite, Oxylite and what worse Longhair Slickster might lay normal one egg, so Crude Oil) often laying all around decreasing decor. So I'd like to place several Sweepies why not.

Sweepys are unable to jump tiles, so you're going to need a LOT.
come night time, that's a fair bit of energy drain, the sweepys will take a long time, AND your dupes will have to empty the dock stations regularily, which kinda defeats the point of having it automatically cleaned. also dont know if the dock counts as a machine, in which case it could spoil room tags.

Something of interest to me, is that sweepy can mop up actual liquid, and bring it back to the dock. Unfortunately autosweepers cannot move bottles , and dupes have to come down and manually empty the dock, which again defeats the purpose of automatically cleaning up.
I really feel like they should add a Liquid Output and Conveyor output to the docks.

It's possible to plan base with sweepies in mind so they won't need to jump.
It's more like late game toy, so energy drain is irrelevant.
You can empty the docks with autosweepers easily.
Maybe it's machine, but Recreation Room is OK with it. Many other rooms probably too.
Yes, liquid output would be nice, or some way of automating emptiing liquids. But in my example it's not even needed and can be solved just by sweeping and conveyoring unwanted slicskters eggs to safe place to prevent oil puddles.

EDIT: Just discovered small bug with Sweepy navigation: it shows like it can walk over horisontal pneumatic doors, but in reality it won't. Ofc that makes this thing worse but I hope they will fix it.

can a autosweeper take a bottle out of the sweepy station and use it where its needed?
This way the sweepy is accting as a punk a dub have opperate.

no but, another good question would be could a sweeper station be frozen so that the liquid turns to ice, just long enough to melt again on the outside of the station and fall down into a mesh tile that'll lead to a mini pump?

station as icebox for storing the ice made of water the sweepy collected? Why the pump if spweepy alrady covers the job.
But question remains in my head: can sweepy swim and grab things underwater or even try to sweep 1000kg water?

so much that needs testing...

and yeah my thought with the pump is the water freezes and ends up outside the sweepy container as ice on the floor. but then it melts while its charging so it'd make a mess. put a mesh tile pipline under your sweepy line and it'll drop the fluid down to a pump. but if it freezes in its internal inventory and stays there then i guess that wont work.

Is its utility that it doesn't count as an industrial machine, so you can use it inside rooms like Great Hall to pick up food scraps and other debris automatically?

That's the best I could think of, other than keeping corridors and other long ancillary spaces clear without putting sweepers everywhere, or using lots of dupe time.

Hehe, I always try to leave some loose hatches in my great hall for those morsels that get left behind. Once you sweep everything else out, they will jump on the food that gets left. Funny, and hey look coal!
