recent issues with lag
All of a sudden, I can't seem to play past around cycle 30 or so without there being an incessant lag, even when paused. I first thought it was mods, so I trimmed, and then ran without. Still the same issue. I don't make crazy builds, but it always seems to happen once I start using more than one power circuit, transformers and such. I've looked at everything possible from watching my processor load, making sure my RAM isn't capping, checking GPU settings, and nothing is dire or even nearly as bad as in other games I play. And yet I get such lag in ONI now that even trying to use the interface results in ignored clicks more than half the time, build planning is agita complete. Just moving the camera while paused will result in a spike every two seconds or so, and yet my processor isn't maxed, RAM isn't either. I didn't think they had pushed a test branch again... I really don't understand why. I've played this game a ton and never had this issue.

A test branch was released yesterday, forum says it is unstable, prone to crashes and such.

I saw where the patch was added a few days ago, didn't see the test release.. or I wouldn't have gotten indignant. Oh well. At least I know my computer isn't dying.

To have test patch installed you need to manually sign for that beta branch. So it was not the thing that caused your problems.

Not sure why, I'm no expert, just a stubborn loony. But it appears the thing that made the difference for me: is I went and deleted my Klei folder found in Documents, the one that saves your mod info and worldsaves. Maybe bad configs, maybe its still pointing at mods files despite unsub/uninstall, idk.

After I did that, I finally got a faster load, and I went into sandbox on a clean world, and literally tried to make lag-inducing things; giant circuits, liquids and gases moving all over and anything else I could replicate happening that might have been the problem. No lag spikes, as yet.

By no means definitive, but still I would recommend this to another having similar issues.

Yep, delete that mod folder completely, and resub to your mods after that. If you have issues with old saves, you probably want to make new ones anyways, but I don't think that was my issue.
