This means you can plant in every other tile as long as you plant from left to right or right to left.
It also means for plants growing up you need to plant the top row first and then go down, and for plants that hang from the ceiling you need to plant the bottom row first and go up.
That said planting wild with maximum efficiency is a lot of micromanagement since you need to block off the spots you don't want planted in yet, and gradually release places as the previous are planted. With automation domestic plants can be kept the correct temperature with 0 micromanagement.
Is the range left-right different? Is it important to go from left to right, or vice versa?
Does sleet wheat grow only on ice or dirt as well?
In an ideal world I would maybe even combine the two - 3 wild plants, then 3 domesticated... perhaps not for sleet wheat but others.
Reed Fiber is definitely nice as it eats a lot of water - I'm literally using it currently just to delete germy polluted water. But getting some more for free is also nice.
-They only care about hardness. I think if you need tier 2 digging to dig it it is too hard to plant in.
1. Open up all cold biomes so dupes hace access to every single sleet wheat plant.
2. Enable Harvest of all sleet wheats.
3. Ranch pips and drop 10 eggs in cold biomes.
4. Forget about it.
5. By Cycle 180 I have more sleetwheat that i know what to do
When cooking pepper bread that requires 200 wild sleet wheat plants for my 20 dupes.
That's a lot of space for wild plants! That's why I wasn't so sure and wanted to ask around just how feasable a wild farm is.
It's nice to have a few extra plants in a distant corner of the map, but for a main food source I'm gonna need something else. Will probably go back to stuffed berries again after the wild sleet wheat has been running out, but it's served as a nice buffer and gives time to worry about other stuff.
Finally tamed a gold volcano yay.
I was thinking for a while - 400kcal for one sleet wheat isn't much really. You do it for the high quality food, but I'll take on the challenge and try to pull it of some time.
Dude... I was sitting on 17 dupes for a long time, now adopted 3 new ones and they have a hard time getting places. Unbearable to watch them use the only three atmo suits provided for access to your steam chamber when something needs fixing asap.
But yea... frostburgers. I'll keep those in minds. Funny enough, the morale bonus could trigger sparkle streak and you might just get a speed buff out of it in the end.
Damn that's a good idea. Better than having them go from A to B only to drop the resources they were carrying on the way when the shift is over.
