Cool solar panels?
Does anybody have a goog idea, how to cool down solar panel. I have built one and protected it with bunker doors, when asteriod come in.
The problem is, that the panel overheats and breaks?

How to prevent this.
I could use an active cooling circuit, but that would need all the energy, the panel produces.

Solar panels doesn't overheat by itself. You should find the root cause of the problem, not try to cure sympthoms. Check what is causing them to get hot and try to fix this.

The surface of the asteroid is extremely hot. What can i do against this?

You dont need to cool them or the surface. Build your bunker doors up in space go as far as you can, into space then use vacume space to insulate from the heat. Keep a layer of windows inbetween your bunker doors and your solar panels, dont let anything touch the solar panels or it will transfer heat to them. It is the 300 degree regolith that heats them up and then over heats them...

So the heat comes from the asteriods, because asteroids are very hot?

I have bunker doors above the solar panel. But when they open, the hot regolith falls on the panels.

Did I understand you right?

ya that and dont let your panels touch anything but other panels and power lines...

I use a system with window tiles and automated horizontal mechanized airlocks. I use a logic circuit that holds the doors open(active) but shuts and opens(blinks inactive) them very fast every sec. Which crushes the regolith while still letting light through the whole time, window tiles block some of the lumins tho...

Thanks alot for the very good explantions and the tips!

Don't use window tiles, they consume light a bit, so solar panels produce less energy. Use mesh tiles instead.

Also, there should be one empty tile between panel and bunker door, because asteroid strike heats (and damages!) the tile under door too.

And there is no reason to use tricks with airlocks when we already have auto-miners.

Standard setup looks like this:

might use that for power but im trying to figer out rockets and get a astronaut out but becus im useing a creative conony its a pain to do anything with rockets so im just building and makeing the place livable till i get a astronaut. oh and surfice airlocks dont work on my base as the regoth and all that covers every thing so no doups can get out to do repair work
