Duplicants won't work contiunosly on Oil Refinery???
I have a system set up that requires at least 2 dupes to power an oil refinery but for some reason the Dupes will only use the machine for less than a second and move on to a different task. The liquid pipes are completely full of crude oil and waiting for consumption. There are moments where the dupes will stay on it all day which is great but lately they do not function it for long periods of time. I really need help my colony is dying without it's main power source.

Have you tried increasing the object priority?

Yes, it's all the way at 9 and one of the only buildings with that priority and it has full power.

This is what happens when the air pressure around the refinery is maxed out. I think it's 5KG. Just close it off and pump the air out and it'll start working normally. I like to auto the pump to activate when the pressure goes above 1KG. You don't need a vacuum I mean.

without being there or seeing a picture, the only other reason I can think of being an issue is gas pressure.

Oil refineries produce 2 things, petroleum, and natural gas. I assume you take the petroleum away for power as you stated, but is the Natural gas being vented and the refinery room low gas pressure?

Just like electrolyzers, if there is too high a pressure for the product to come out, they cant produce.

OFC this is just my guess, since i cant see, and you stated you have h igh priority, oil, power, dupes who can use it, and you were using petrol already.

any other issue probably would be obvious or printed out.

do you have screenshots?

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... I can't figure it out on my own without google... why there is no message "outlet air pressure too high" or something. this game is too difficult to play on your own

Not really. I find the number one reason why things either don't work or things go horribly wrong is because something got backed up.

You have to look at anything that has pipes\vents going in\out and ask yourself "what temp\pressure does this stop working\what if there is a lot of X and where do I put it all\\what if power is cut off from this building\system?\what happens if flow stops?"

Just a lot of things to learn. Once you've learned it you know it and don't have to learn it again. All you need to do is close off a room around the refinery, build an air pump and you'fe good.

Sure, some mechanics are simple enough to figure out by yourself but ONI is undeniably the king of "undocumented mechanics" ranging from the trivial (you are told that hatches eat 100kcal/cycle but you are never told the nutritional information of rocks) to the fiendishly complicated (how much liquid does it take to flood a building? The game "helpfully" doesn't update the status until you reload so you would need the patience of a saint to figure this out by trial and error).

Indeed, nothing in the game that indicates why a machine is not working due to high gas pressure... except all of these:
