Cracked tiles of abyssalite

So I was digging casually and I guess the cracked tiles broke under pressure. Which releases massive amounts of heat. Now I have thousands of kg of steam blooming into my base.

Yep, they are in fact cracking. It happened again after I shored up the first catasrophe. Then it killed all my plastic.

how much pressure does it withstand? didnt know absylite could break.

I thought it didnt break too. Not sure why its breaking. There isnt any additional lava from a volcano at the bottom. Maybe cause I drilled till it was 1 tile width at a section. I'm not sure how the structural integrity mechanics works. I do know liquids are what breaks them, not air or steam.

All natural tiles can break when under heavy pressure. Just some hold out better the harder the tile type is.

yeah i havnt gotten far enough to do anything with the core yet, but if possible i always back the abyssalite with built tiles of some kind. typically insulation incase something happens like this whre the abyssalite breaks.

Good to know.. I leave Abyssalite where I find it if I can help it, separating Biomes, as sort of a be all end all for everything. I wouldn't have thought they could crack.

if i can i try to leave them at 3 thick. makes a good divider and they will withstand pressure for longer.

late game you can use abyssalite for stuff and using ceramic insulation in its place works fine. basically by the time your launching rockets, ceramic should be a common thing to have around.
