Pratical uses for diamond?

so i know diamond is a reasonable replacement for glass but besides that i don't really know what it's good for, if anything, and i can't really get any clues from it's properties tab.

so essentially: is diamond good for anything other than glass? if so what and how? like, if it's good for temp shift plates how so?

better than even gold or tungsten? thought those were the best. (save for the exotic space stuff)

Those are kind of the 2nd best, a few do share the same value (60), but diamond got 80.. so quite a bit better.

huh, after a couple hundred hours you'da thought i'd of caught something like that, also didn't gold USED to be 80 conductivity? i coulda swore....

It's not a bad thing tho, everything staying the same without new stuff or balancing would be way worse.
I've also spent alot of time looking into "what's what and how does this work" can't say it wasn't worth it =)

Diamond is the best tempshift plate material as you approach late-mid to early late-game. The great bit is they're easy to mine. Refined gold is the next best but requires either a poor conversion of amalgam per smooth Drekko or crushers, or a significant heat/time investment with refineries. Diamonds are reasonably plentiful and ready immediately after being mined.
