Report a translation problem
So there are unidentified things in space. You click on em, the dupe looks at em with the telescope, then when the progress bar fills, it shows you whether it's a carbon asteroid or ice one or whatever. (However, there is a bug where you have to save-reload after you've researched one before it'll let you research a second, so if you're getting the 'telescope idle' warning, that might be the issue)
Databanks come from rockets exclusively, unless there's a mechanic I'm missing.
