Gases and Space
is it possible to put a gas vent in open space and just pump unwanted gases out into the void ?
I tried just having my external area's open to space and gases didn't go away and thought ir would be a great way of dumping excess.

You can and if you want this to happen it's best to pump the gas directly into a void area with no background, I was disappointed myself to relize space doesn't depressurize an area all that quickly.

Yea it works, but the game doesn't have any pressure mechanics, so gas doesn't rush out into space if there's an opening to vacuum. Just kinda more casually oozes into space.

So two thoughts:
1: Are you sure you really want to do that?
I'm not sure if you're new to the game, so apologies if I 'm patronizing, but there isn't much in the game with no use, so be careful dumping into space. Like I would never dump CO2 or chlorine into space, cuz those can be very useful. Sour gas on the other hand... not sure that's got any use atm.

2: Yes it works, I've done it plenty.
Putting the vent far from any spaces with a background works best, as cool nitro said. It works with liquids as well as gases. I don't know if it affects dripping water, but it does affect pooled water. You might get like mg of gas floating around on the surface, but the majority will disappear.

I've tried to use it for disposing of heat. In my last game (pre-space industry obviously), there was alot of unusable hot stuff on the surface, so I trickled my excess water up into space and onto it. the 40C water would cool the surface a bit, then the steam would boil off into space. Worked ok.

My newest plan is to keep a small pool of water with a few aquatuners on the surface. When the tuners get hot enough to boil, the heat escapes into space. We'll see how it works.

Sour gas can be converted to nat gas.

Ultimately you can produce more co2 than your slicksters can use so it does work to vent it to kill heat but its not an optimal strategy

yeah not new to the game and at times i end up with severe overpreassure of bad air and i was hoping it would explosive decompress to clean the joint out :/
for now just have some timed pumps dumping crap into space to bring preassures down till i get everything built n sorted
