Is there a way to get infinite water?
The sand filter thing isn't a good idea cause the water it makes is full of death and destruction, and water is always going to be a problem...

get a map with at least 2 steam geysers and you are set

You could use a tepidizer to kill the germs, and then run the water through the filter. You might want to cool the germ-free water, first, though.

Geysers produce steam, you need to cool that off and viola: water. Try piping it through a cold biome.

Use as little water as you can safely get away with early in a game while getting your initial colony working in a stable way. Dig out a few exploratory tunnels to try and find a steam geyser. That'll give you an infinite source of clean, germ free water. You can use hot water in a lot of things (though you'lll want to pipe it around with abysallite pipes or you'll cook your base) but you'll need to cool the water for farming.

Use the filter on polluted water found in slime biomes if you're desperate, it shouldn't be full of germs like toilet output is. That can keep you going a long time if you're struggling to find a geyser.

I'd safe up the water of death for oil extraction. But, you don't *really* need water for dupes to contaminate it. The outhouses and desinfecting stations are just fine. Or, use it for irrigation of slime biome plants!

You can also use any natural gas geysers to produce electricity, where you will then get polluted water as a byproduct, which you can then treat into clean water.

Note that it takes quite a lot of natural gas pumps to make a significant amount of water. I think I calculated one time that I would need 17 natural gas pumps to provide enough water just to run two electrolyzers.
