Im not that good at materials in this game but I think there's something about the gas in the pipe limiting the heat transfer rate meaning that the material used for cooling pipes does not mater. (Material for insulated pipes does mater though)
Do you use insulated pipes or just ordonary pipes with a insulating material? Insulated pipes is thicker (requires more material to make) and has a insulating bonus added to what material its made of.
Sedimentary rock is thermally reactive or smth like this, and this way sedimentary rock let fast heat transfer.
Ingenious rock is opposite material, which is hard to transfer heat, but still transfer a bit
Abyssalithe is well-known for its thermoisolation, it is almost do not transfer heat. But really transfers, but really tiny amonuts.
So if you want your pipes to transfer heat fast - use sedimentary rock or similar material.
If you need just a good thermoisolation - use ingenious rock or similar
If you need the best possible thermoisolation - use abyssalite thermoisolated pipe/tile.
Think about where the heat's coming from. If you've got cold pipes outside on the left and hot batteries on the right, then the right half would be significantly warmer. On the other hand, if you have cold pipes between the hot batteries and the farm, then it'll kinda protect the whole farm.
It depends how much heat you need to pull out of the farm. My old mega-base had cold pipes inside with insulation around the outside, and I had to put a temp sensor on the pipes because almost no heat got in, and the pipes were so cold they'd freeze the plants.
