I'm too dumb for this game
I really like this game, but it's too hard for me. I hardly survive to 40 cycles. Do I need to build all these fancy machinery rooms from guides? Every map i played doesn't allow me to build such rooms, because of lack of special resources, or it doesn't fit to overall base structure. IS This game cannot be played without predefined rooms from guides ?

My current issue is pressure.
I learned how to manage water, food (it was hard to keep up), even power, but pressure kills me. I've read that I should stop producing oxygen from algae terrarium, does this fix pressure issue ?

If your base has high pressure problems the best advice is to start digging... a lot. Dig out a huge pit below the base and let the carbon dioxide drop down slowly on it's own or pump it out yourself. If you have plenty of water might be worth dropping in a carbon skimmer to destroy some of the CO2.

If your problem is too much oxygen then the answer is exceedingly simple... turn off your oxygen producers for a cycle or two.

Algae terrariums are a waste of time usually. The only time you should use them is to add a little oxygen somewhere for a short time before you can get electricity in there. If you're trying to use only terrariums then you're goona have a bad time lol.

Especially early game when water and algae are tight. And you probably want the extra CO2 for pressurization to keep oxygen density sufficiently high in the rest of the base.
yeah i get over pressure problems easy its a problem for new people or people like me who suck at math and science and just in general not that smart/bright....

this is how it happens i think anyways.... i build a base... i have 1 oxygen thing [the deoxidiser?] and after a while they stop working because i get a lot of bad gas [the stuff the dupes breath out CO2?] now i dont have anything to get rid of that so it builds up in multiple rooms and the oxidisers then dont work as over pressure...

now as us new players we cant afford to build a carbon skimmer they need research and they also need a lot of power and water and so on.... so we are left with them horrible green mound things i think they are terriums or something? but they suck they make polluted oxygen for me when dupes empty them i have nowhere to put the polluted water yet....

then when i do have place to put polluted water i get a build up of polluted gas....

all in all there is just far too much stuff for us new players to deal with all at once with very very little buildings to deal with it.... so we are forced to rush quickly as we can to get all these buildings to deal with these problems but they all need massive amounts of power.... some buildings cost like 1000 power alone... (some heater to kill germs in water)

what we need is more basic buildings at the start for new players that cost no power they can be bad or not very good but atleast it will help.... im tired of everything costing power and far far too much power and only having a hamster wheel at the start to deal with everything......
Hiya OP. You don't need anything fancy from guides. Just don't expand too fast, make sure you have food and air, etc. There are some "gotchas" in the game that you tend to only learn after losing once or twice, like Algae Terrariums.

They sound nice at first.. produces oxygen, eats CO2, uses less algae than oxidizers, etc. However, they're actually pretty bad. They use a bunch of water (recent update made them spit out polluted water in exchange, but that means duplicants have to unclog them and dispose of the polluted water bottles) and they don't produce oxygen very fast.. it takes 2.5 of them to supply enough air for a SINGLE duplicant! They also try to ignore air pressure, which can lead to over pressure.

Algae Oxidizers are just all around better, even if they use a little more algae. They take up much less space and require a lot less maintenance. Algae Terrariums can sometimes be used at the end of really long unpowered tunnels, especially under your base, to slowly build up some oxygen where an oxidizer would be unwieldly. But that's about it.

As for over pressure, that's a problem I run into a lot too. If you have room under your base, a temporary solution is to build a CO2 pit. Under your base, just mine out a giant empty spot. All the CO2 will sink down there, allowing oxygen to fill up your base, regardless of pressure. And that extra space will temporarily relieve the pressure for more oxygen to be produced. If you're dead set on trying to use Algae Terrariums, this would be where to place them, to maximize their CO2 usage.

Later game, you can get rid of it in a few ways.

Carbon Simmers and Slicksters would be ideal choices of getting rid of CO2. And if you're having overpressurization of other gasses, then you just need to be more careful about letting them into your base, and/or need to build the machines that can get rid of those extra gasses.
Research algae terrarium, it helps to get rid of CO2 without power. Food is also the 1st thing to start producing.

And remember airlocks!

pressure is your friend hehhehehehe, really

If your base is close area them you need to set a pressure detection and connect it to the a oxidizer to keep at 1000Kg of pressure, that way you will use less algae and keep the pressure low, just dont open all the doors hehehheheh.

Also CO2 dont rise above O2 and can be use to a lot of stuff to force gas

PS ...
the game is not hard, it was more hard before the updates, I lost more or less 100 hours just to reach 100+ days, so is normal to lose several bases in the start.

Right now I reach 600+ days and gets boring and start again
