What can i do with ice? Cold biome advice

Ive finally found a cold biome for the first time ever, and its made of tons of ice and snow tiles, which are tagged as liquifiable.
Incidentally, my base has significant problems with water shortage at the moment, so this seems perfect. But how do i get blocks of ice from the far east to become water in my treatment facility in the west? How do i turn it into liquid. Will it just melt on the way and make a big mess?

Is liquifying ice a good idea? Or would i be better off leaving it where it is and building hot facilities nearby (like a metal and plastic refinery!). Should i try piping warm water through it to cool it? Would that be likely to just melt all the ice and ruin the whole biome?

This is the first time ive seen, let alone been in a position to utilize, a cold biome. And i'm not quite sure where i should start. Any advice on dealing with and making the most of cold biomes, will be appreciated

well if you are short on water, find polluted water and filter it.
if you got some time left, build machines in it that create heat.
so youll use the cold for the machines and the ice will slowly melt.

You would be better off melting the ice at the ice biome since mining blocks destroys 50% of the mass for whatever reason right now.

If you’ve found a steam geyser you can send it into the ice biome and it should melt it nicely.

you're sure that melting them onsite won't destroy half? Can anyone confirm that?

Ive got a couple of wheezeworts in this ice biome, they seem really great. But how do i cultivate them to make more?

You can't unfortunately. What you have is what you have. You can plant it in a flower pot but you can't produce more.

There should be quite a few on the map though. Go look for more cold biomes.
