are you playing on public or beta branch?

beta branch

use insulated abyssalite pipes.

insulated pieces got buffed by using the old (minimal conductive) system. all other things use the average between 2 tiles.

this means that insulated abyssalite works at nearly 100% insulated like it did naturally before. noninsulated it can drop down to 50%

damnit i give up till it officaly comes out. built some of the new cooling pipes out of tungsen and they took freaking cold damge at 15F wtf.

Pipes take damage due to gases or liquids changing their state inside them. If a liquid turns to a solid or gas inside a liquid pipe then the pipe gets damaged no matter what temperature it is. If a gas turns to a liquid inside a gas pipe then the pipe gets damaged no matter what temperature it is.

from what I understand wolframite and tungsten disipate heat, so using those two for steam means it transfers the heat more quickly to the environment which causes the steam to cool rapidly and turn to water which as John said, breaks the pipes because it's no longer a gas.

insulated Abyssalite as HokImeetz said is your best choice.
How do you guys pump it though? My gas pump keeps breaking from overheat.

personally, I don't pump steam. I cover the area with igneous ventilation pipes and pump freezing cold hydrogen from the cold biome with the anti enthropy machine, to cool the water and keep the area cool so the steam forms to water quickly.

Someone else will have to chime in on that. I try to avoid heat as best I can. ;)

pumping steam just isn't really a great idea...

why pump steam? its a waste just let it cool to water and then pump the water easy peazy lemon squeazy dont overcomplicate things in a already very complicated game

People who say "why pump steam" want to live on that damn rock forever

If you reach space biome and want to build your first rocket, you have to use a steam engine to power it. This requires you to pump steam into it. Yes, steam. You cannot pump water into the engine.

As for the OP's question, my suggestion would be to pump cold steam into a pipe, and then if necessary send that pipe first through a heat chamber to heat it further before sending it to the rocket. Either that, or preheat your ducts so that they don't cool your steam.

Necromancy is wrong. You should be ashamed.

That's a vitalist remark. Nothing wrong with zombies if they don't go around causing a fuss.

has it ever occured to either of you that when i posted this OVER A YEAR AGO rockets didnt exist and the steam turbine was impossible to use thus making steam literally useless?
