Seeds for beginners?
Anyone have any seeds they would recommned for new players? Perferably starting water underneath my inital spawn and in two seperate spots if possible. I have been making it to around cycle 25 but I keep having food and immunity issues from stress.

Seeds are a little random with how many you find, but I would definitely recommend building enough mealwood farms to plant the first 40+ seeds you find of that. One farm room can be 96 tiles (24x4). But if you plant mealwood without the ceiling height on farm tiles you can theoretically plant 48 in one 48x2 room. It can be a bit hard to build the base around that though, because it's nearly the entire width of the starting biome. But it's definitely a brute force approach to early food problems that works.
Bristle blossoms are much easier to farm now than before. But you still need hydrophonics, ceiling lights and plumbing for that farm, so this has to be the second thing you try to do for food, not the first. They are very nice when it's all up and running though. Mushrooms are in my opinion better than both, but need slime and Co2. If you have a basement area full of Co2 that you aren't using, and don't mind digging out some slime for fertilizer, early mushrooms are a great solution to the food troubles during the first 20 cycles or so. They grow quickly and have a decent calory count straight off the farm.
Anyway, dig for muckroots and harvest wild plants while you work on the farms and you should be alright. That's the scythe icon at the bottom. Set it to 9 and harvest all the wild mealwood and bristle blossoms that are growing on their own.

As for stress, you really need artwork to reliably keep it low. The massage table helps a bit early on, but you tend to get too many stressed dupes for one table without artwork. It uses quite a lot of power too, and should not be in constant use early in the game if you can help it. The other dupes will most likely spend all day running on the hamster wheels just so one dupe can de-stress on the table and then they'll probably switch places, and you basically won't get anything done. Get an artist dupe and build a few paitings and sculptures instead.

I think you can live up to cycle ~200 on dirt alone (with 12 dupes). Just adjust your food policy correctly so your dupes eat mush fries. Well at least it was possible before, until you find a better food source.

This was my problem exactly they just kept running in circles. I also run into the issue where I can get the dups to actually put the crop into the early food production machine. They just pick it up and eat it. When they do put it in the machine I dont understand what I am doing to get the AI to do so. Also composting, Can you use polluted dirt from outhouses/ what are you supposed to do with outhouse waste exactly. I cant tell if they are composting it or putting it into my storage.

also all of your information was incredibly helpful thank you.

Duplicants will deliver polluted dirt to a compost pile where it gets turned into fertilizer, if you have one that has room. Polluted dirt can also be put into storage containers if no compost pile is currently available and you have enabled the storage container to store Oragnic - Polluted Dirt. Generally you don't want to store polluted dirt in a storage container unless there is liquid in both the top and bottom square of it because polluted dirt slowly turns into polluted oxygen if it is in a square that it can release gases.

do you need multiple composts for mutliple outhouses? I.E is it one to one?

One compost can accomodate at least 2 outhouses. I'm not sure how many exactly. I don't use compost. I instead just store my polluted dirt in a storage locker under water so it can't put off gases and I pretend it doesn't exist.

Right. Well the fertilizer is used on the crops I believe. Or is supposed to but isn't, because the dupes just use dirt/water/slime as far as I know. It isn't terribly clear at the moment, and I wouldn't worry too much about that for now. It is still just early access and some of this might be getting attention as we get closer to release. As a rule I try to build one of everything even if I don't know why I'm building it, so I don't develop any bad habits before full release. Except if it is something I don't really feel I need that uses power or water, like the fertilizer synthesizer. I already don't really know what the point of the compost is, other than to use polluted dirt for something when I can easily store that anyway, and don't need an equivalent to the compost that uses power.

I'm probably not the right person to ask about cooking though. It really feels wasteful, tacked on and inefficent to me right now when compared to farming. I mean, all that power, heat produced and labor wasted for a negligible increase in calories, and also often wasted water. It's just such a huge cost for almost no gain as far as I'm concerned. Some of the more fancy dishes are fine and have nice effects. But not in the early game. Cooking is a luxury, extraneous activity that I put off for as long as I can. I'll have one cook at 12 dupes working sparingly on one electric grill to make some good food. Other than that the kitchen equipment is for decoration in my base.

But anyway, and as far as I know, the dupes will eat straight off the farm if they are hungry or starving. When they are not the cook/gofer will take stuff to the musher and make the lice meal you can make there. That's the second recipe of the three. If you set that to continuous they will make it as long as there is raw meal lice available. Now I think you probably also need to give someone a high priority in cooking for anyone to do it.

Oh, and one compost can easily use up the dirt from four outhouses. This would make me more exited if there was anything to use fertilizer for. But as of now there is not. It just takes a smelly thing and turns it into a non-smelly thing, which is worth about exactly the time it takes a dupe to build one compost I think. But again, it might be more useful later.

You will need it for the Farmers Station to make greenhouses: Micronutrient Fertilizer is used to improve plant growth rates. It is produced by a Farm Station. Increases the growth rate of one Plant. Requirements: Fertilizer: -5 kg Effects: Added Effect: Farmer's Touch
As far as a good seed, there is a thread called "Urgent map seed request!" on the Klei Oxygen Not Included General Discussion forum, it has a ton of good seeds, you can pick one that fits your play style. This one sounded good 2025515713 has three steam, two natural gas, one water, one polluted oxygen, and two iron. 320157516 has two steam, two natural gas, two gold, one copper, one iron, one magma, one hydrogen. 532916490 has three slush which is a good beginner as it's cold polluted water, which solves a lot of problems. Use sieves to turn back into clean for your clean water needs, but use it as is as a coolant to keep that cold as sieves have set output.

Here's a good seed I just ran into. Has a cool steam geyser to the right, and a natural gas geyser to your left - just next to your starting position.

Seed: 399816045
