Ice Won't Melt?
I placed a storage compactor (made of sandstone) above my water storage to let ice melt, but the ice in the storage compactor refuses to change temperature at all. How do I get the ice to melt into my water supply? I've tried breaking the compactor as well and the temperature of the ice still doesn't change.

You probably have 20 tons of ice in your storage and warming it will take quite a while (the Joules needed is based on total mass). Instead, build some 400 kgs statues: Statues melt faster since they have lower mass and more conductive. You probably need to build and rebuild a lot though but in the end your water storage will be quite cold.

I know this is old, but I'm just getting back into the game and this was a life saver (all 5 flavors). So, a very late thank you.

For anybody who is still interested:
Build a conveyor and send the ice through the water tank. It will melt realy quickly.

just make ice sculptures in your water tank, if you do it below water then the sculptures will instantly melt and giving you like 400kg cold water instantly

Why not build tempshift plates made out of ice?

Personally I use multiple containers set to a low mass limit, since it keeps the dupes refilling them as it melts. Just need to use automation to make sure the tank doesn't overflow.
