Considering the number you have down there it doesn't look like much of an issue.
Never tried that with pokeshells but I assume they will die off eventually.
My dreko ranch using the same type of mass storage of critters was getting up into the 40-50 range before they started starving.
I had so much plastic that game :)
HOWEVER, several critters can reproduce offspring before death, while cruel, this allows you to have as many tame critters working for you as you want of that type. This is useful for critters thats use comes from death, and not a byproduct of life.
*(you can have shovole farms early game for carnivore achieve for example)
IIRC; Dreckos are the only base critters that reproduce too slow to do this with *(i've never had a gassy moo, or most of the varients, so i cant gaurentee this statement. However this is the reason mass shinebug reactors, and fish meat pockets can exist.)
