It needs to see to the top of the screen, not just be in space. So all the blocks above it are blocking line of sight.

I'd recommend reading about space buildings on the wiki. They're very finicky and the in-game info is not nearly as helpful as it needs to be yet.

Oh, really?! LOL Seems that I have a lot of work to do...
Thank you!
Can you send me a link? I found a wiki(and some forums) but it had a few informations about that only.

The placement orf the telescope doesnt have to be hard, just have few tiles of space between it and another object above it.

Wiki: (You're right, this isn't super helpful. The wiki's scanner entry is a bit better.)
https://oxygennotincluded.gamepedia.com/Telescope

Excessive info post on the telescope:
https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/95950-research-telescope-everything-you-need-to-know/

Too much info on the space scanner:
https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91314-oni-meteorology/

I'm split on this. I feel like some of the requirements for space buildings are too hidden but specific to be fun discovering through experimentation (eg. The telescope needs 5 empty tiles to its left, but 2 empty tiles to its right and looks straight up. Meanwhile, the space scanner has an angled scan area (funnel) that is off-center.)

But ONI is best when you figure out your own way of doing things. Solving a problem yourself is sooo satisfying. So maybe try not to read more than the handy images? Hope this helps!

I agree with you, it's super fun to have the problems and solve them yourself, but this time I was out of ideas. (even after I've seen some images already running out of ideas before hahaha) I must have lost about 30 cycles just trying to fix it, or more. hahah
Tsm!
