Also you don't have to dig out the entire map. If you don't need the material don't dig it. If you just dig whatever you need for your actual base building you will not have a lot of loose rock, and you can easily fit it in a small storage area with the regular bins.
There's also the dispenser and conveyor chute which allows you to stack infinite material in one spot, unless you consider that an exploit...
Afaik 10x or even 100x is a thing there and easily added from the workshop if you want it in your game.
Will definitely check those out, but that's probably counts as cheating and I don't want an easy experience.

Did you really just complain that storage capacity should 10x's or more. Then when someone told you there is a mod that does it that you think it might be cheating?! I'm I reading that right because this is beyond stupid thread if I read that right.
The developers made mod support so players can change the game to match what they would rather have it play like. It's not cheating, it's changing the rules.
I literally turned one of my chlorine biomes into a massive storage area.
