Uncovered a Gold Volcano
Hi all,

I'm relatively new to the game and on a new map i'm playing I've run into a gold volcano 20tiles from my base which buried, but i was doing an exploratory dig and .... I blocked the dig with an insulated tile made from igneous rock but realized that when that thing erupts it spews out gold at over 2000ºc which is likely to melt everything around it.
I'm at cycle 45 and have no experience with one these.. So how do i deal with it, or should i restart on a new map?

Thanks.

pour water on that bad boy

Just drown it and the metal will cool in the water.

Depends how much its produces and how fast can you cool the rock before it gets to hot until it melts. I recommend blocking only one side with insulation (preferably base side) and like others said pour water on it, best water to drown it with is polluted water. Allowing you to clean said water and you get free refined gold!

Thanks for your suggestions guys, i poured water on it as suggested and it's going to be active for another 20 cycles, Every cycle i'm making a TSplate from ice hopefully to keep the heat down.
Its details are :22kg/s over a period of 21secs every795s. Active period 69cycles/113cycles
Nice to have the free refined gold.

put it under vacuum
magma doesnt spread heat if touching an insulated tile and is under vacuum

seal the volcano on insulated tiles made of igneous rock then use a pump to vacuum the room
then put a water airlock to keep it a vacuum tadda you have non cooling non heating magma

Flooding it will water till it is covered will make it over pressured to stop it's eruption.

Most of these comments are bad advice lol. You're goona want a steam turbine ASAP to deal with the heat. Make a system where you drop water on it through a vent and have it able to be turned on/off with a switch.

Снизу налей воду и найди морозные коконы и посади, и будет тебе золото

except, do you have a steam turbine at cycle 45? cause I don't, we are talking about containing heat for an early game. So, I advised using polluted water to drown the volcano until you get tech to better benefit from gold. Polluted water is great for cooling it because when it goes to steam it purifies and leaves polluted dirt. This is a great solution for early game, not so much for end game.

Hahahaha I remember the first time i uncovered one of those. Yeah i now uncover just enough of each one to figure out what it is. I cover them up until I'm ready to deal with them.

JUST SEAL THE VOLCANO IN A VACUUM
