Missing algae on EASY Worlds, abundant on HARDEST
(test luanch branch)
So, the first O2 Generators use Algae.
There is no algae available on the first 3 planets (in test launch)
I created a world on the hardest world, and I have a ton of Algae.
Isn't this entirely backwards?

My first game (first or second world), I didn't get enough O2 plants planted, and the oxgen stone all disappeared and everyone died, no algae.

My SEcond game (first world), I built lots of planets for oxygen generating plants, and am nearly surviving, but I have no more room to expand to get more O2 plants, and there's no Algae anywhere.

My third game, I wondered how hard harest would be, so I got undrground oceans and I go in, there's a (pardon) crap-ton of algae all over.

It may depend on your world traits too? My experience with oceana or whatever was pretty easy, but there wasn't that much algae outside of the starting biome. If you want more of a challenge, try volcanea, sometimes the lava isn't insulated from the rest of the world.

Maybe they should add "algae bloom" trait that spawns pockets of algae on any asteroid, if a player wants that.

Also, I think they need to do some balancing for the hardest asteroids, the ocean one is not hard at all and the volcanic one had lots of ice biomes the last time I checked it. I settled on the oasis asteroid for a challenge.. it has very little algae, clay, gold amalgam, 0 wheezeworts and 0 sleetwheat due to having no ice biomes, also no rust; lots of hot +70c sand everywhere and hot oil pockets. I really hope they don't nerf this asteroid and they should think about making the 2 harder asteroids actually hard.
games with forest biomes miss algee entirely(exept slime biomes but...) , and rust biomes who supposingly be "replacment" does not spawn close to start ether and very rng

does also not help they nerfed all cooling , all of it , as well heat voiding , they nerf weezeworts and they introduce asteroid who has no cold biome , no generating hydrogen powered cooler

how you are supposed to cool anything there , no ice , no weezeworts , no anything and all asteroid is pretty toasty

Simple solution, do not play on asteroid with no ice biome.. you have 6 or 7 other asteroids to choose from.
While not fully updated, the wiki appears to have at least the basics of what the new asteroids have.

my two easy games I made it to cycle 10 (1 alive) and the first time the (Sorry, bad with name,s and a noob ) gate-printer thing, the first option had a care package of Algae.
I played another 27 rounds, got up to 10, and then everyone starved.
I backed up on that map a bit to 24 and played until 27, and now they are mostly alive... (tantrums had knocked out floor tiles on food makers)
I have another easy map I started, but it had no algae.
Then I tried the hardest , .....
and in all of the cycles I only had 1 time that algae came up as an option.....
If only I had taken that first care package... in my first game (what a noob :) )

Started a new game on second asteroid, it had regular na dirregular oi and subsurface oceans.
No Algae.

Trivial water situation on the easy asteroid. Most people don't need algae for anything after cycle 75 or so. I just feed all mine to fish.
Water situation on the ocean or volcano asteroid is much harder, and oxygen is a proper challenge. The algae doesn't last forever. The increased amount just gives you a little time to find solutions to the water issues.

Can I ask - TO get more oxygen plants I have to unpalnt the xisting ones? there's not a seeding stage of it? I'm to the bounds of oxygen and there's no more plants and they can only barely keep up, and I think the generators are going to overwhelm them (but at least they work in CO2 already :) )

I started a Arboria Asteroid too and got unstuck really fast when it came to oxygen generation as there was no Algae, which is how I usually would start a game. In the map I started Rust was everywhere, so I thought that would be my lifeline. Trouble was the Rust Deoxidizer needs Salt and in my map there was no Salt anywhere. So my colony died after a while. Like the OP says, it seemed odd to me as well that this supposed easier asteroid wasn't. However I read posts where people were saying that we should reconsider our strategies.

So I started a new game and changed strategy. The Arboria Asteroid (at least the one I'm in) has an abundance of water and lots of Oxyferns. So I've uprooted all of them and placed them in Farm Tiles at the bottom of my base where all the CO2 is. So far (~cycle 70) it is just enough to keep me going. This map also has lots of Rust in the adjacent biome, but this time there is Salt as well, so the Rust Deoxidizer seems the way forward for me.

So I'm guessing my first game I was just really unlucky with the map seed that there was no Salt near my starting biome.
