What's good use for ceramic?
What should I build from it?

It's the best mid-game insulator stuff before space age material, so use it to build stuff that you want to resist or retain extreme heat... Usually tiles and pipes.

If you need to use insulated gas pipes, use ceramic, or there won't be much point in insulating the pipe. some Space age materials are technically better, but those are late game, so...

To say there's "not much point" is a bit overstated. They still have their uses for slowing down heat of hot liquids. Going all out with ceramic IMO is best suited when dealing with molten liquids, like for example when you build a glass forge.

Well, it does depend on what you're doing, but when it comes to keeping a gas at a given temperature, insulated gas pipes made from random rock just don't seem to cut it.

Insulated liquid pipes, on the other hand, are still reasonably efective with just random rocks, though I've used insulated ceramic fluid pipes for certain sections of my cooling system (mostly those where 0 degree water is hanging out next to 80 degree polluted water)

I've also got a fair amount of ceramic as long as I don't try to insulate my entire base with it.

Igneous rock works fine for most applications. Ceramic is really only needed when working with gas/liquids that may change states while in the pipes. Like steam, LOX, molten glass and liquid hydrogen.
Yeah I see I might need to make few more kilns to make ceramic pipes for steam, I havent used steam yet.
