Do morale boosts for a type of room stack?
1) Do room morale bonuses stack if you keep both tiers of a type of room?

In other words, if you have a Latrine (+1) and a Washroom (+2), do you get a morale boost of +2 (the higher) or +3 (if they stack).

2) Do multiple identical rooms stack?

For example, we will likely have multiple bedrooms (+2). Do we get a single +2 boost, or do we get +2 for each bedroom?

My guess is that we only get the higher tier bonus (+2 for Washroom above, not +3) and only once (+2 for bedroom)... but I figured I'd ask before I go redesigning my base layout as it would affect whether I go for compact "per room type" designs (i.e.: a single bathroom with 3 toilets and sinks and dorm rooms that maximize the number of beds) or full-service suites per duplicant, each with its own bathroom, bedroom and mess hall components.

3) I saw lots of mentions that showers are worthless as they consume a lot of water and there is no negative to not having them but that there were expectations of that changing "in the future". Has it happened yet? In other words... do I bother putting showers in, or am I better off skipping them?

Showers have a morale bonus now.

It might not be worth it if you haven't yet secured a good source of water (slush geyser to salt geyser to steam vent), but they give morale bonuses now.

They don't consume any water. They only change it to polluted water. So definitely worth of it.

1,2) OK, keep things compact then, no point in trying to make multiple rooms of a given type (like an apartment per duplicant) or to keep around the early latrines and small mess hall. Maybe even combine the med bay and massage rooms into one?

3)
That +3 morale bonus for showering looks attractive but it clearly requires one shower per duplicant since it takes so long to shower.

I will have to play with possible layouts to optimize space usage. I wonder if 2 shower/2 toilet/2 sinks will fit in a standard bathroom with enough space for decorations.

2 x 2 + 2 x 2 + 2 x 2 = 12 x 4 = 48 < 64

I know that much fits. The question is how many statues I have to add to make the room green for morale. I have to test :)

Morale boosts are based on rooms/situations that a dupe experienced on the previous cycle.
Bathrooms won't stack because a dupe will only use them once a day. Different rooms types will stack - if a dupe uses them.

So dupe a who uses a latrine and eats in the great hall will have much higher morale than dupe b who uses an outhouse and eats in a mess hall.

^ You can also look at the dupes stats screen and it will give a breakdown of all morale affecting things that dupe experienced in the previous cycle, as well as active buffs/debuffs
