How do these gas filters work?

I want to remove the carbon dioxide in this room and pump it next door to the left but i don't understand what i am meant to use. What are gas outputs and where do i put them?

green output outputs anything else. Orange outputs whatever you set it to.

click that filter and set it to carbon dioxide, orange out put will be the one your are filtering and green is all the other gasses that its not set to filter

no, do not connect all those out puts together, only connect input to white, and then orange for carbon dioxide, send it where you want it to go then green one for the rest of the gasses

...a gas output is where the object is putting out gas.
In the gas overlay, those are shown as green or orange symbol, while gas inputs are white. The overlay opens automatically if you select building a pipe.

Now the problem is, you don't know how pipes work in ONI.
A pipe does ONLY transport material from an input to an output. A pipe itself is neither of those.
So if you want to transport gas, you need a way to get it into the pipe (a gas pump) and a way to get it out of it (like a storage or a gas vent).

Your system currently has none of those.
You need a pump on the right, a vent on both sides and you should turn the filter and connect the pipes accordingly. Because it is complaining it lacks both outputs (the symbol of an arrow going OUT of something). You have a pipe on the left, so the filter is considering this it's input and doesn't complain about lacking that. Meaning right now orented to INPUT the gas on the left.

Now how does the filter work? In the overlay it has a green and yellow output. The yellow output will put out whatever you choose to filter. So if you choose CO2, this will come out of the yellow output, everything else from the green one. If either output pipe is blocked (usually because of over pressure) the filter will stop working.

And now to the biggest issues:
1. Read the description of objects or some guides, because you need to understand how basic pipe-management works.
2. At the start of the game, either ignore CO2 or dig a hole and let it sink in (CO2 sinks below O2). CO2 is not dangerous, as long as your dupes have O2 to breath.

Thanks Maltsi and Dschinghis Pan. I'm finding it confusing but i think i have it working.
