Oh, that sucks. How can I effectively boil water to sterilize. I tried tricking tepidizer but it didnt heat any further.

You don't need to sterilize the water. If you want to just for fun you can use an aquatuner, or anything hot like magma, glass from a glass forge, the coolant from a metal refinery, etc.

Nope. But if it still gives you anxiety, its simpler to build ice statues in your water and cool it to 10ish degrees, works like a charm for small-medium sized pools.

Don't use germy water for cooking things like mushbars, other than that yes, lavatories, sinks, showers, even farming is fine.

Mushbars have germs on them no matter what, so it doesn't actually make a difference for those.

To gain sterile water, you can put it into liquid reservoir within chlorine gas.
Or dump controlled amounts on a steam geyser or hot water geyser.

If germs don't actually do anything, I'll be sad because I spent a lot of time and effort creating cold, sterile water xD

Chlorine strelization is not viable until you have germ sensor thus requiring you to reach petrol. At that point it is to drip your water to lava I believe

It's easily doable before that, simply disable the resevoirs. they will fill but not drain. sure that means manual control without sensors (which fyi you can get without petrol, you just need to farm dreckos)

I use polluted germy water as a coolant. It runs in a circle made of radiant pipes behind heavy machinery and geysers. Pipe germ sensor or temperature sensor to exchange the coolant. Then through water sieve and water cooling system and I have again a clean water at nice temperature.

Alternatively, there are a few objects that don't care about germs:

• plants
  
• oil wells
  
• oxidizer/liquid oxygen for rockets

You can build reservoirs on mechanized airlock and by opening/closing you disable/enable the resrevoir. Automation can be based on clock sensors and you just use half a cycle to disinfect one reservoir at a time.

No plastic needed.

A lot of people like to do it. It doesn't really benefit their base, but I guess it can be a nice feeling that there are no germs in the water. I prefer doing more productive things with my time, like ranching higher tier shine bugs ;)

So far I've treated my water for the rpg element :) (with a chlorine gas chamber)
I wouldn't wash myself with water full of poo and spit... and my dupes certainly don't like it too.
