Chlorine Gas Vent uses?
I just dug up a chlorine gas vent and I immediately tried to figure out what I could use the gas it emits for but even after scouring the research page nothing really jumped out. Nothing I could see really runs on chlorine gas, is it just a byproduct or for santizing water?(what I use it for but I just used a chlorine filled room near my waste water)

What purpose can you use these things for?

ripped straight from the first link on google

A Chlorine gas room is great at disinfection and heat insulation.

It is good for germy slime storage and processing (or any items you want to disinfect). Just remember that it takes a full cycle to destroy all germs.

While not perfect, it also can serve as early, more-resilient alternative to the Vacuum chamber.

The Ore Scrubber removes germs from objects and it is a way to use chlorine. It needs a duplicant operator, which makes it a worse choice if you just want to remove germs compared to the "chlorine gas chamber".

The Balm Lily needs to be surrounded by chlorine and does not need any care at all. It has good synergy with Stable of Dreckos, generating infinite renewable Phosphorite.

Balm Lily Flower and Phosphorite dropped by Dreckos, used together produce Medical Pack, which heals Slimelung.

Dasha Saltvine requires Chlorine atmosphere and consumes small amounts of it (6 g/s, or 3.6 kg/cycle).

Gas Grass consumes liquid Chlorine (500 g/cycle).

Squeaky Pufts breathe Chlorine and excrete Bleach Stone, which is consumed by Hand Sanitizers.

Failing to use excess of Chlorine, you can always pump it out into the void of Space.

Squeky pufts eat it for bleach stone and salt vines eat it for salt (and gass grass eats liquid for gassy moo natgas).
You can also grow pincha peppernuts and balm lillies in it.

And make sure you isolate it or it will easily fill massive sections of the map with 5kg/tile chlorine.

Waterweed, which is pretty good and is required for best food, consumes bleachstone. Which can be created using pufts from chlorine, and this is the only way (apart from rockets, if you are lucky) to get bleachstone...

I believe you also need a salt water vent for that to be fully sustainable. Unless there's a way to use salt to make salt water.

i have a liquid sadness geyser somewhere in my base but I've already lost many scientists past to geysers/vents and i don't want to risk it

Hmm aside from the Peppers, Balm Lily and killing germs....I'm already using the natural pockets for this around the base. So you have confirmed I should just wall it off and never touch it again lol.

Thanks though.

Yes, sadly.
Or another way would be hauling it from space if you have those planet, only tiny amounts are required (5kg/cycle).

Honestly that's what I would do, too. But there are some interesting exotics to keep in mind like gas grass that might entertain you when you've already won the game at cycle 600 and have nothing else to do.

Barring those other uses, its also a good gas to superheat and then vent into space, or drip on your bunker doors/tiles to boil off and evaporate since its almost always going to be more abundant than necessary.

Which is great though. Who needs a chlorine airlock when you can just fill the entire map with the stuff.

You have an assured saltwater geyser if you have ocean biome on your map, which I'm pretty sure all of them do.

I have no idea which are the assured ones are post-launch, do you happen to know?

as a few others stated, it has a lot of "optional" uses but you don't actually need it. I haven't used chlorine gas for anything in over 1000 hours...
