neural vacillator best use?
So I was reading the wiki and it tells me there are 4 traits you can install on a dupe

1) +10 str
2) -20% stress / cycle
3) +20 hp / cycle
4) -50 g / s oxygen consumption

How should I best distribute/use this thing?

My theories are

a) put them on your "supermangs" i.e. your best exosuit wearers, so they can go even longer on the suit's oxygen supply and recover even faster if they get into scalding environments like molten white lava.

b) just keep rolling purely for the -50 g / s oxygen and spread that across as many dupes as you can

c) use it as a crutch/bandage for stressed out dupes so they don't revolt (the stress part)

d) just stack the +10 str everywhere as much as possible to help keep the base clean and efficient

e) ???

Its random what they get. Only found 1 and used once so far and it gave -50 g/s o2. Pretty good way to have a dupe cost 1/2 price for the duration of the game.

I know it's random but, I assume you can either

a) save scum (we're not scummers though, right?)

b) I assume that you can't roll the same one so if you put a dupe through 4 of them then you will get all of them just not in a predictable order

And yes I'm aware you can apparently refill the vacillators if you get to other planets but I'm about 400 hours away from doing that.

Totally random but best to use on your key or most important dupe as it'll usually help them do their job better. All the buffs are good so you can't go wrong with giving it to dupe number 1!

Still if you want the best then +10 str is best on suppliers for more carrying weight. -20% stress is good on astronauts or those who have high moral requirement. +20 hp/s is best on diggers, builders and possibly even rancher if they have to go to the oil biome for slickers. -50g/s oxygen is good on builder and miners.

deep divers lungs stacks with divers lungs so you literally have dupes at -25g/s in 1 game i did around when vaccilators were first added i had 5 dupes with both divers and deep divers so...yeah "Plz dont nerf klei"

I personally value the oxygen saving the most.

Stress and healing are the weakest. They can be dealt with by simply playing the game properly and not making poor decisions.

Str can be useful. However you get more carry capacity than most dupes need from the supply job skills. So its not something that is in use constantly, even when doing carrying jobs. The oxygen saving is useful 100% of the time from the moment the dupe gets it.

Yeah my thoughts were heading in this direction. Save scum deep divers for as many dupes as possible xP

-50 oxygen is generally best as you can use the resources you normally use for oxygen for something else instead...

Just put them in and roll the dice imo. You can get recharges later on if you start spamming rockets.

I need to figure out how to recharge that thing now. I needed a runner and the gods sent me one that really needs to sit in that chair. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1830312705

Hot damn, twinkel and lungs....

I heard you have to send a rocket to outer space to find recharges. But, you do realize there are naturally like 5-6 if not more spread throughout the biomes to begin with.

I usually pick a single dupe and let them use the vaccilators until they have all the traits. Whoever is my favorite at the time I find the first one usually heh. This playthrough it's mi-ma, cause who doesn't love their mi-ma lol

Is that POIs in general or the vacillators? I've found several POIs but only ever found 2 vacillators, one on the last save and one on this one so far.

I've found 5-6 vacillators on the starting asteroid, and it seems to be the case in my last 3 playthroughs

I save scum for the +10 strength. I never have issues with oxygen or stress, and the health regen is so rarely needed in most cases.

As for the frequency of them, I think what's in any given POI is random. My current game I've explored all the way left, right, and down, with a little bit up, and found zero brains. Found a bunch of POIs though with nothing really useful in them. One comfy bed made out of obsidian somehow, one locker, and two vending machines. There might be several brains clumped near the surface, but I don't know.

IMO this traits are kind of useless end game. All of them. Would be really nice in the beginning, but by the time one can get recharges oxygen does not matter, stress does not matter and dupes already can carry enough for most if not all supply errands.
It would be nice to have something really useful for those rare and limited recharges...
