But oh well, since I can't wrangle them, I guess that is the best option... do they infect it with germs? I spent A LOT of time to create a germ-free water production, If I have to dump in filthy fish, I feel sad...
Besides, why does the printer even offer to print fish, if they don't come in a way I can actually use them?
They do NOT contaminate water (unless maybe if they come in contact with germs on the path? Not sure that's even possible?)
Once you have them in a holding tank, make sure to remove any eggs they lay from the water so they don't get overcrowded debuff. I tend to drop them next to the tank on a tile so that once the fish dies and the new ones hatch they'll flop right back into the tank to refill it with fish. This is how to make an infinite fish farm, as long as you have a high population of fish, you'll get more fish filet as they die off and repopulate.
So far using critters as food seems tedious, because I have to manually choose to either crack their eggs, or send dupes to kill one for meat. The auto-wrangle option only helps avoiding overpopulation, but at best I could create a place where dupes will place all the critters ready to butcher.
Meanwhile the last time I changed anything in my plan-farm was after the update, when I had to put Wheezworth into plant tiles.
Edit: Maybe the reverse can work for pacu, instead of flooding to drown, maybe you can let water out and have them die because they're not in water?
Yes you can automate this easily. Just have a sweeper and 2 loaders. 1 loader for fish filet that can send them to your kitchen and the other loader for fish eggs. I make 1 tile right above the water tank where I have a rail dropoff where the eggs from the loader comes out off. This will remove the egg from counting as population and once the fish hatches they'll jump right back into the pool. The egg shell from the hatched eggs will stay on the one tile so make sure your dupe can reach it or the sweeper and another loader can reach it to send it to your refinery.
