Which creatures kill each other?
So I had to learn the hard way that if you put Pokeshells in with your Dreckos, the Pokeshells will kill the Dreckos. I thought all the critters were benign unless attacked by Duplicants. Which critters will hurt other critters?

Only the pokeshells get aggressive, and only if close to one of their eggs.

Well, I'm off to debug mode to torture creatures, be back later :P

Keep in mind that pokeshells will annihilate the dupes in direct combat

Pokeshells can get aggressive? :O

If you see them turn red they have an egg making them aggressive, sweep that quickly. Or late game build up sweeper automation to do it for you. Unless you are making TONS of polluted dirt to feed them, I've only ever kept one alive in a pen at once and just sweep their eggs. When he dies of old age, ill incubate another one to replace him.

That's really interesting to know. I was printing a lot of drecko eggs and pokehslles and never moved them from the printer platform, then I noticed the dreckos near the printer were getting hurt somehow. Now I know it's because of the pokeshells! Thanks for sharing that information.

I haven't run into any trouble with wild ones, I just let them do whatever they want for some extra lime.

I wasn't joking about torturing critters :). The pokeshell killed the hatch, gassy moo and shine bug pretty quickly. I thought it killed a pip too but there was still one there, I think I accidentally spawned 2 on the same spot and didn't notice. I later dropped in a pacu and it too was quickly murdered. The other critters didn't seem to bother the pokeshell for whatever reason.

The behavior is a little weird. I added a couple of pips, it went right after one but didn't seem to notice the other. YMMV, just reporting the results of my torture session :P

No way! I totally thought they looked redder at times, but I told myself it was just a trick of the lighting with where they were on the map! That's interesting.

So I just doubled checked the in-game log for Pokeshells, and it says nothing about their aggression. Shouldn't that be in the handbook??

I know this is a pretty old thread but I did just confirm that a tame pokeshell will attack other creatures in your stable when they lay their eggs. I believe this is a mechanic to make harvesting lime for late game steel more difficult.

.............BUT!!!!!!!!TONS OF PACUS.........PRODUCE PRETTY MUCH ENOUGH LIME,THOUGH.........AND COOKED SEAFOOD AS WELL..........FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!SO POKESHELLS JUST ARENT NEEDED.........DESPITE THE FACT THEY'RE PRETTY MUCH DIFFICULT TO FEED

.........ONLY IF......MAYBE.............ROOM OF WATER SIEVES.......BUT WHERE THE HELL WILL U FIND SO MUCH POLLUTED WATER.....DESPITE THE FACT IT'S BETTER TO BE USED ON DOMESTICATED PLANTS........

How do Pacus produce lime? The eat algae and seeds and poop polluted dirt.

Same as any egg laying creature.
Egg shells.

And Pacus lay eggs like crazy.

Ah, I see.
Stretchytall Jul 3, 2023 @ 7:07pm
The crabs also produce lime through their molts. So maybe they're more efficient at it. That was certainly the devs' intention. But I've never seen an analysis of whether a crab farm or fish farm would produce more per cycle. Could also depend on how much lime the player needs. Fish might be good enough.
