How do I automatically send baby critters into the stable?
I have my stable running with max 8 hatches in it. With the critter dropoff set to max 8 and auto wrangle. It allows hatchlings and adult hatches

Under it I built a small room with 2 incubators. I've put a critter drop-off with hatchlings and the maximum set to 0

I was hoping that would mean that once the eggs hatch, they would be sent in the stable, and then a grown hatch would be wrangle and sent in my kill pit that I've set-up not far away. But the hatchlings just sit in the incubator and nothing happens.

I can send a pic if needed.

Is your stable full of adult hatches? If you set the max to 8 and stable for the adult are full then dupes won't the hatchlings over.

I've only got a week of experience with the game but the game seems to require that you manually toss babies out of the incubator; I've never noticed a way to get them automatically out of the incubator (i.e. you have to click on the box to stop continously hatching to throw the young hatch out)

just set a critter drop off in the kill room to 19 . Incubators should be in ranches set to auto wrangle. If you have enough non busy Ranchers they will release hatched eggs. I find auto wrangle set to 5 (in a 96 tile stable) they seem to be happier and breed faster.

3 or 4 stables with icubators works best

So I'll try to put the incubators in the stable and manually release the hatchlings. Yes my critter dropper is set to 8 max.

I recommend you put the incubators on timer to only run 5% of the day. Keep each incubator set to run at a different time of the day.

What this does is reduce the power consumption of the incubators to a minimum and the 5% for each one is enough for the rancher(s) to lullaby the eggs and give it the buff all day.

Some may consider this an exploit, I personally don't mind it.

So I've just put a critter feeder in the hatchery, and then once the hatchlings become adults, they're sent in the main room (because the hatchling critter dropper does not allow hatches). And then if the main stable is full, they auto wrangle an adult and send it in my kill pit.
Yay!
I'm now trying to somehow make a drecko stable, oh boy that's something else hehe :P
