How to get arbor acorn?

Haven't found any reliable info on this yet so asking here. How do you get an arbor acorn from an arbor tree? It sounds like pips are necessary but I've had 4 pips in a room with an arbor tree for like 50 cycles and haven't gotten an acorn. They eat the branches and don't drop anything except dirt.

you can get them from printing pod, thats the only way i can think of

Pips do occasionally create an acorn when they eat. You also have a chance to spawn an extra one when uprooting a full grown tree. Note that full grown doesn't mean has all branches. Just that it is tall enough to start growing branches.
