pitcher pump priority?
I have 2 reservoirs of water, and one pitcher pump apiece. Is there a way to force dupes to prioritize using one pump over the other?

Yes, if you click on one of the pumps you can see a list of priorities (1-9) in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Also, you can press "P" and then the priority number you want (say "6"), and then click on the pump.

If you have a bottle emptier, one situation that could happen is the dupes might start transfering water from one reservoir to another, which might not be what you want. Welcome to The Game!

Can you please provide a picture? I clicked a pump and I saw no priorities in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

I also pressed P and saw no numbers above either pitcher pump.

Maybe you are talking about any number of other buildings that normally work this way, but I cannot do so with a pitcher pump.
When you would need more than 1 reservoir for each type? I have 1 bottle emptier for polluted water, 1 for salt and none for clean water. The bottles from mopped spills stay in place and used for reseach machine, cooking or farms later.

Oops, I assumed you could set the priorities of pitcher pumps...looks like you can't.

Can I ask why you need more than one pump for a given liquid? I've never needed this, I'm curious why you do.

You may ask, but I'm not going to answer because it's not relevant to the original question. If I start explaining why then I know you will try to avoid the original question and focus on irrelevant derailing.

You can lock a door to the other one with sensors.

That sounds rather complicated. Is there a way to do it based on priority like use the closest reservoir? I think that's what I'm really looking for, a "use closest pitcher" command because it's annoying when they use a pitcher that's farther away.

Don't they already do that? My dupes seem to always take what is closest to them.

Maybe I didn't word it quite right; I have reservoir A and I have reservoir B. Reservoir B is close to ice makers, but my dupes took water from reservoir A to till the icemakers. What is the way around this, but also allows them to take from reservoir A when it makes sense?

They take it from what is closest to where they are standing when they get the order, not necessarily closest to where it is being used.

The only way I control dupe movement is with doors and general base planning. There is no way to link a pump to specific structures.

So you want to ask for help from others but aren't willing to help in return? Nice.

If you can't answer the original question just say so, don't pretend it's my fault you can't answer it.

You could lock the door to the pump you don't want the dupes using by clicking the lock button of the door's infopanel.

Unfortunately what if I want them to use the pumps smartly not just ignore one all the time; if I wanted them to ignore one of them all the time I would just delete the pump to begin with.
