how do I cool my farms early game
I'm on the first asteroid and temperature is a major issue affecting my ability to get food by cycle 77. How do you guys handle this? Most of my central areas are 33-35C...I imported about 4 breezyworts but they aren't doing that much it seems.

(I think the source of the problem was a metal refinery I was running 24/7 for a while until it overheated and I was forced to dismantle it...I really wanted that refined ore! :O

I try to insulate around my base then around the heat producing areas. I put the wheezeworts at the edges of my farm area and in the middle of things that produce a lot of heat. You have to think about where you put them down now since they dont cool as much, where they'll have the most effect and won't be wasted.

Can you tell me a little bit more about "insulation" like do you use ceramic tiles everywhere, do you use farm tiles if so what type, etc. I think I have multiple issues I'm not realizing, one is which using the right materials in ceiling/floors.

I think I was doing better in my first colony with respect to heat because I didn't use lights or the refinery the first time around, but even then i do remember towards the end the temperature in base was creeping up.

metal refinery produced huge amount of heat, i use insulated tile to build a room and seal the heat.
and i will also do that to the shower room

The purple tiles that prevent heat transfer is what I mean. I use the green farm tiles. Yellow ones require plumbing and if you cant keep your water at a low enough temperature it will heat up your farms.

A great way is to find a frozen biome with a nulifier. Place your oxygen production near it or at least connect the hydrogen waste to the nulifier, zigzag your (oxygen) air pipes around the biome and it will act as a natural heat sink. You can even stuff some Worts to minimize the use of hydrogen with a temp gauge automating the power. If all else fails, you could just loop an air vent around your colony and have it run chilled air in a cycle from one of the frozen biomes.

If you are already at 30+C everywhere - there is nothing terrible in using mush fry-s as long as you have enough water. Then you either find plants that can grow at this temperatures, or use aquatuners possibly combined with steam turbines to cool stuff down. Doing it with wheeezeworts will not work for such large amounts of heat.
If you have access to cold biome you can also build insulated farm and cool it down.

So I should put purple tiles around showers, cots (is this right cuz ppl emit heat too??) and machines that make heat?

All my set up i did like a refrigerator, put on pipes to trade heath with the rooms, and after change to insulated pipes, and pump the heat to another room full with cooling power, or pump the gas thru a ice biome. This helps but its not endless...you will need find a gayser to put heat sistem in a endless mode.

At my stage 2 breezeworts can't even keep a 10 tile farm of meal lice at a growable temperature......

Either that, or the other way around - insulate areas that need to be temperature-controlled, like farms themselves. For dupes 30-40C is fine.
Also remember that insulation is good, but those machines when insulated will overheat and need cooling too...

i think dupes heat is not the problem, but yes the machine heats

and for your info, e.g pepper, it grows on warm temperature.
and if it consume the warm water, it actually consume the heat

i am only 80 hrs in the game, i might be wrong tho

1: Insulation
2: Wheezeworts
3: Building hot things outside.
4: Cooling loops.

I figured out part of my problem was my farm was near some 40C igneous rocks AND I had some unswept igneous debris; once I insulated the farm with purple tile sand removed the debris the wheezeworts actually got the temp down to the 25 range which is happy times.
