Help me understand
How these little, low-budget games get such high marks? Is it because they are cheaper? Nostalgia? Accessible to little kids?

It's called game play.

Something triple AAA developers have forgotten about while they got lost making their high-end graphic QTE games.

Good marketing, cool art style, interesting game.... Why does this need to be explained?

Like why don't you try it, instead of sounding condescending?

Uhh maybe it's just a great game maybe?

since when does price equal quality?

? cause its made by klei? and they pretty much only make good games? cause the game was not a "Low budget" lol and also while yes this game "can" be played by a 5 year old it would probably make them frustrated fast as this game is hard and really texts your brain

Because many players have a desire for complexity and ONI provides.

It's an honest question. I just feel like I am long past enjoying this style of game; a platformer? It could be I am wrong.

Your personal tastes are not shared with the world. That's why there's genres and many different games to be bought....

You are wrong. And it was less an honest question, and more a condescending jab at anyone that likes something you don't. Makes you sound a bit of a douche, honestly....

And really, a platformer? Did you just look at pictures and assume? This is a management/survival game dude....

I wouldn't call Klei low budget by any means. Yes a smaller team but amazing coders and artists. ONI has been in production for over 2 years while they support their other titles. Far from retro, the complexity of this game is one aspect I find amazing.

Sounding like his first lesson in understanding should be READING or maybe researching a game before making stupid comments.

the problem obviously is, that this game is not a platformer but a colony-management game

maybe watch a gameplay video first and judge then again

Because they can try what big budget productions no longer have the balls to
