Deodorizer - effective range
i got a farm room for mushrooms, which required slime.
slimelung germs build up in the room eventually, which i only realize later, as my farmer keep getting slimelung.

i want to optimize the farm room, so build only necessary number of deodorizers in it.

i tried to build the deodorizer higher up from the mushrooms in the room, seems like its not working when i look over its status, no germs killing reporting.

according to https://oxygennotincluded.gamepedia.com/Deodorizer
***
The Air Deodorizer seems to be able to catch Contaminated Oxygen 3 tiles away (including the deodorizer: a 5x5 area).
***

this is kind of confusing, not sure its 3 count from the device. then that should be 2 tiles

i did built some deodorizers elsewhere whereby the germs are obvious in the overlay.
seems like using 1 can cover more that the 3 or 2 tiles from the device

does anyone know how far Deodorizer effective range can go?

They'll "suck" things in from about three tiles, but as long as the gasses are circulating from things like door openings or vents, just one is enough for a room that isn't traveled too often. You gotta remember that pure oxygen is both heavier and doesn't get germy unless totally overwhelmed. I usually place them near the top of an exploratory shaft that's full of polluted oxygen and over a few cycles, they don't need atmo suits anymore. For a fstadard size room, one on each side if two doored, or one at the entrance should be enough. I usually seal my ph20 basin room for example, and one at the door is enough to prevent pretty much all leaking. If they're getting sick from germs building up on their body and not breathing, put a sink at the exit that makes them wash when leaving.

Another option is using an air pump to suck out the polluted oxygen and filtering it to another place where it can be used. Purifying it in a tight room into pure 02, feeding pufts, etc.

I always suggest building a small sump near a mushroom farm and put containers of slime and bleach stone. The bleach stone will kill any slime lung on the slime.

Its 3 tiles including the tile the Deodorizer is in. I space them 4 tiles apart.

Your problem is this statement.

The deodorizer doesn't kill germs. It just converts pO2 to O2. The germs in the air will remain, though they will slowly die off due to being in O2 (which they can't live in).

If you want to get rid of the germs, you've got a lot more work to do. This, sadly, would likely involve disabling the farm and moving all the slime out until all the germs are gone. You'll also have to scrub the slime to get rid of all the germs.

pO2 isn't dangerous by itself, the danger is that it will rapidly grow slimelung if any gets in it. As long as your slime doesn't have slimelung to begin with, the air won't get germy, and one or two deodorizers will keep the pO2 levels down.

Store the slime in a container that is under water. It won't give off the p02 with slimelung in it that way.

i did store the slime in a storage submerged by water
the problem is slime being used in the mushroom farm room build up the germs
