I'm hitting the same problem... i'm intentionally letting lots of food rot, but it's going pretty slow. Making a wide shallow pool of toilet water would probably have worked alot better I think, but i've almost got enough ceramics for the monument.
farming morbs is a possibility, but morbs don't breed normally... they grow out of overflowing outhouses! Put an outhouse in a small room, and lock the door when it gets full. Eventually (used to be a long time, like 3 cycles maybe?) a morb or two will pop out! I always clean and "refill" the toilet after it spawns a morb. i'm not sure if that's necessary, but that's my approach.
If you have a lot of algae available just make a Oxygen farm with Terraniums...and the bottled polluted water from that will be allowed to sit out in bottled form off gassing PO2...You sit your deoxidizers next to that.
With about 8 to 12 terraniums you should get 8 to 12 stacks of about 2KG bottles of polluted water and your going to mass produce clay while providing a lot of Oxygen for your base.
Terraniums are pretty good for O2 production as they dont consume loads of algae and then your producing even more via the PO2.
The main problem is that you will get gas pressure build up even if you shut off the terraniums by putting automated doors under them....Withen a few cycles you will have so much PO2 sitting down at the bottom of your base that mass area's of it will become completely green.
Thats as far as I got next is dealing with what to do with pressure and maybe store the gas.
I think it is fine to play without some resources. the problem rises when u need that specific material for industry (like gold amalgam for late game oxylite, and there is none in arboria, relying on puft for late game rocket oxylite it's just a no-no)
Luckily i have found a gold vulcano.
Well, i want to make ceramics. I just deconstructed my composts. I produce a lot of polluted dirt with ethanol refineries. It's also producing a lot of CO2. Im using this to produce additional polluted dirt with sieves.
I wondered, if there is a faster way to get clay, like heat up XXX to temp YY, and voila you have clay?
Later in game an automated terrarium farm will out run anything for the expense. Just make sure to not have a bottle emptier set to polluted water.
it does , and its not only cheap oxygen without water but takes very little effort and tech (pumps and deodorizer tech)
in one of updates they changed how often deodorizers need resuply so you can have just "shaft" with deodorizers and open bottom where clean oxygen enters your base
It will make a lot clay but you may want to have access to regolith as it will burn sand quickly
Dont be alarmed about slimelung in oxygen , current germs base diseses on "exposure" and that seams to tick ether if exposure is high or only from phisical contact
i have dupes in my current base who have weak immune system and slimelung is in half of base with 500-2000 concentration in breathing air , noone so far got sick and its like 100+ cycles now
How get morb farm? make room whos a bit big , make toilets there , give them pririrety 1 later so they never get uncloged , as they get greadualy full build bathroom elsewhere
once all are full build pumps and connect them to power , make a power switch and sealoff the room
now you wait for morb buildup , in current game they can spawn only 1-2 times from toilet but there is a catch , that timer resets each time you load a save file
so if you a bit "save scum at printing dupes/stuff" you will endup with a lot morbs eventualy
It's incredibly easy to scale, you can get all the O2 you need from it and it can be fully automated (if you have a source of pW and sand/regolith)
DDDDDDDD <- Deodorizers
MMMMMM <- Mesh tiles with water
AAAAAAAA <- Airflow tiles
pWpWpW <- Polluted water
This works because the deodorizers have a range of 2 so they can suck the polluted oxygen through the mesh tiles. Ps. Vacum the airflow tiles before adding the pW
When you deconstruct a water tank, the liquid will be bottled up. The 5 tanks will give 25kg of bottled polluted water at the bottom of the room. If you add a tiny layer of water, the 5 5kg bottled polluted water will off gas alot of polluted oxygen.
The gas pumps at the top will ensure a lower atmosphere pressure, making the polluted oxygen rise and pass through the deodorisers.
Only like once every 500 cycles do you have to rebuild the water tanks and re-deconstruct, the automation and shipping is fairly simple, add sand and send clay.
You replace the water tanks with sublimation station if you have an abundance of polluted dirt. It's the same concept. Polluted oxygen making at the bottom, thin layer of water to trick it into never over pressuring, and deodorisers between the pumps.
I have a small scale example, maybe that can give you ideas for your own design!
