Does slimelung die in CO2?
Also does anyone have a really good method for excavating slime or dealing with deodorizers with a little polluted oxygen in them?

Slimelung dies fast in chlorine, propagates in POx, and dies slow in the rest.

When I dig out the slime biome, turn on the germ overlay and try to dig in a way that avoids the slimelung. Then build deodorizers and let them convert the POx. Place a bin in some pwater close by, set to sweep only for slime at a high priority. Once most if not all the POx is gone, dig up the slime. Mark it to be swept as you go.

No, it does not die in CO2. It is only inhibited, meaning it won't multiply.

Slimelung only dies in Cl2 and O2, it DOES NOT DIE in other gases.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
It dies fast in Chlorine.
Dies slow in all other gas but POx, where it propagates.

According to you, tanks of slimelung tainted CO2 I had stored should still have slimelung in them. Yet, they don't anymore. Don't assume the tanks were exposed to heat or cold to explain it either. They die off in time.

Edit: proof slimelung dies in CO2

Cl2 is chlorine xD easy miss though.

but yeah as said, filter the polluted o2 into normal o2 to reduce slimlungs ability to propgate in it.

if you want to get fancy, pump the Co2 out of the room, replace with chlorine. when doing this i try to set it up so my entry point into the excavation area is at the top so to avoid leaky chlorine into other parts of my base.

then exclusively store all slime you mine up in bins within till the slime lung is all gone. and later, use a conveyor system to dump the slime into a more controlled chlorine room that only lets the slime go when its germ free. good way to use chlorine so you can make algae from the slime without pumping slimelung everywhere.

About po2 with slimelung that are too small for a deodorizer to clean. The best thing you can do is suck it with a pump into a chlorine environ. Lotta effort I know but those tiny pockets are the worst as they keep multiplying the slimelung and releasing it into the nearby o2.

My slime solution works like this:

I make a storage which is submerged in water to store the slime: any amount of water is enough to prevent outgassing, a film on the bottom tile of the storage is enough. This bin should be in or next to the mushroom farm (or where the mushroom farm will be).

I dig out or wall off 100% of the slime so after I'm done excavating the slime there is no exposed slime to produce slimeling in the atmosphere. I add a few deodorizers to clean out the polluted oxygen over time.

The slimelung storage bin and the mushroom farm are kept behind a sink or hand sanitizer, so after farmers slime the mushrooms they'll wash their hands before doing other tasks.

Basically I don't bother killing the slimelung at all I just prevent its spread and minimize the amount of time dupes spend in contact with it.

My slimelung solution looks like this:
1 Place deodorizer

Nothing to add to what Battleseed said ... thats how i do it too ... and take your time ...
the best thing imo is to just have a clorine pit ... literally just a latter down 16-20 tiles, no digging around the latter , and u will have a nice little slimelung killing hole u can just keep moving your dupes down :D
oh yea you do need a backup deoderizer and maybe some bleachstone near

Slimelung isn’t that hard to deal with compared to its previous iteration. With respect to your planet and it’s traits, the resource to allow you to mass mine within the slime biome is in the chlorine biome. The medicine pack can be easily made by mass growing lily plants and let the drecko eat those that fall down.

Then your immune for one day and can breath all that polluted o2 with no issue. It’s also rare that more than 1-2 dupes get slimelung at the same time.

You can check germ state on any tile/gas/liquid and see if they're dying or not. I remember it dies super slowly on gas other than P.oxygen and slightly faster dying rate on Oxygen. They get totally eradicated while submerged in chlorine gas.

As a germ in CO2 (including zombie ones) use carbon skimmer and see them die slowly on liquid p.water or submerged in chlorine gas like most would do with food poison.

Slimelung also dies when very hot or cold
