How cold is your base? Dupes can deal with extremely cold temperatures without problem. Rime for example is fine as long as they are not getting wet. A small farming room, insulated and containing only plants and farm tiles should be able to be heated rapidly. You can even place your o2 production in it and the o2 will heat the farm and push cold air away.
First of all, get all of the material inside of the base to the outside. Each dropped material still has a temperature and having several tons of it lying around will keep things cool.
For me, I double walled insulation around the entire base (igneous rock preferably). Then, I researched the liquid tepdiizer and put it in my main water area. I then put a pipe loop around my entire base (not in the insulated tiles), and put radiant pipes at my openings around the base, with tempshift plates. The radiant pipes and tempshift plates help with the heat loss when going out of the base.
I got the the water up to about 40 degrees, then shut it off. It slowly started heating the base up.
After you get automation, then put a thermo sensor on the liquid tepidizer so you do not have to micromanage turning it off and on.
My base, in the coldest area, is 15 degrees, but it typically about 25 degrees. Warm enough to grow thimble reed. The adjacient outside areas are between -15 and -25.
All of this takes a lot of time to do. The good thing is that hatches and pips can survive severe cold, so start ranching early. If you get a temporary cold spot, then use a space heater, otherwise they are not very useful.
My base is quite large, so it works on small and large bases. When I get into the game next, I will get a screenshot
