Do you install lighting in your base? Any benefits?

I haven't yet installed a single light. Is this a half-baked mechanic so far, much like deviating from just eating raw Meal Lice (not worth the trouble; not optimal)? I also have never installed a shower system as this doesnt seem to be worth the wasted time/water for such a low stress relief.

Stress doesnt seem to be a problem at all really, I have two massage tables for 18 dupes right now and i really havent had any breakdown/stress reaction from a dupe yet.

Would appreciate any thoughts on this

I do not recommend it as installing a single of the smallest light will slowly heat up your colony, or atleast the area around it and then you have to deal with heat problems. Not worth it until the light upgrade.

I did at first. Never do now. Such a waist of resources, power, and really nothing positive. You'd think no light inside of an asteroid would increse stress a LOT.

Literally the only reason is to grow Bristleberry or make Terrariums a bit better.

Stress is something you stay on top of or it sends you into a death spiral. If your decor is high enough you should never have an issue.

I only add them to be fancy but they're absolutely not high in the priority list in my designs.

I figure eventually it'll be required somehow: stress maluses, increased "accidents", dupes scared of the dark, a creature that spawns in the shadows and attacks dupes (ala Craft the World) etc

It uses next to no power, so that isn't really a concern for me. But heating things up when you don't need to? I dunno. I use ceiling lights if I want to grow blossoms now and not otherwise. Nothing else needs light, which is a bit odd if you ask me. Maybe they have a look at this before full release. That and cooking.
