How to do a proper power wiring?
the basic cables werent enough anymore for my power demand so i upgraded everything to the better ones.
but i just noticed they hella reduce the decor factor by a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
so how do you set them up to power your whole base without getting your decor to -500

Put heavy wires in utility tunnels where nobody goes.
Connect heavy wires to power transformers.
Put usual wires out of power transformers to habitated areas.

the transformers in the tunnel too?

I place them in tunnels, yes.
They have incoming heavy watt wires which are ugly. And usual wires can go through tiles, so nobody have a chance to see ugly wires.

so transformers can take in any wattage and put out max of 1000?

I've never seen this question before. Today.

Yep. From one side there is socket for heavy-watt wire and on other side there is socket for usual wire. And it's guaranteed it won't output more than 1000W on usual cable side.

No. The small line of the transformer should be either the reg wire which handles 1000w or the conductive which handles 2000w.

The transformer allow you to safety transfer the pwr within the 20kw heavy line to a smaller w/o overloading.

You should not mix those lines since that risk it overloading when you surpass the type of line tolerance.

Having a small utility tunnel just for heavi-watt wire is best solution I found after making a few colonies. Keeps it out of view, easy enough to access if needed, just one tunnel halfway high going left to right across your whole base and you can branch out transformers from there. You could also double up how useful it is by making a tunnel with airflow/mesh tiles at the bottom of your base so it also acts as a large co2 sink.

Cheapo wires can only withstand a total of 1000ws the endgame thin wires can handle more. Apparently gold wires can withstand more but I'm not 100% sure.

Connect the power source to several batteries with thick wires outside of base and connect them to transformers. Thick wire goes int he big end and the thin wire goes in the little end. Each transformer can only support 1000-2000ws of equipment or they will break.

I was told to make a power plant area that connects everything to your batteries using the heavy cable. Then set up transomers, each transofrmer will have 1 line that is for the 1000watts.
So heavy cable goes from power source -> battery -> transormer input and cheap cabled goes from the transormer output -> machines.

This way you can just set up new lines by connecting to a new transformer.
