How much Oxygen per Dupe per Day?
I've started a game at harder difficulty, so I want to plan my O2 production and dupe printing carefully. What's the average amount of oxygen needed by each dupe each cycle?

I've noticed slight variance in oxygen consumed each day. Does their oxygen consumption vary depending on activity?

You should be able to select the dupe and see what their daily usage is. The wiki says 100g/s (60kg/cycle if correct at 600s/cycle), 200g/s for mouth breather, 75g/s for divers lungs. I believe this is outdated though.

I do know you can select the dupe and see it in their info somewhere though.

when they are holding their breath they are not consuming oxygen so technically there is a minor variance in cosumption.

You're right about them using 100 g/s, 60 kg/day. I just noticed how it says that on their personal info when you click on them.

This is good. I only have four dupes at present, so a Rust Deoxidizer will provide for them all, since it creates 570 g/s of oxygen.

I don't think it really matters if you plan out your oxygen supply much or not. Eventually your base will pressurize and O2 producing will stop, only producing exactly enough to replace what Dupes consume. You're not wasting O2 since it doesn't decay, you just have more of it available already in breathable form.

Trying to only produce oxygen to exactly what they need is a good way to cause low pressure in your base, causing crops to die and toxic gases to spread in a wider area across your base. Higher pressure will force toxic gases to pressurize more as the O2 forces them down, lowering how high CO2, Natural Gas and Chlorine will sit in your base as they become more concentrated at the bottom.

All you should worry with O2 is letting it escape your base if you're worried about supply. If you use Atmo Suits you can limit how much O2 you need to have outside of your base in order to do work. That and building checkpoints can help. Rather than worrying about how much O2 you produce, just run airlocks to keep it from spilling out.

I don't know why you would really worry about O2 production unless you start venting it into space.

If you were just worried about power consumption, I don't know if there's any power wastage for having more diffusors or electrolyzers than you need, but they'll run for shorter amounts of time since they automatically shut off when pressure is high enough.

Yeah, I was only worried about having more duplicants than I could provide with oxygen.

I don't know how I overlooked that. I assumed you were worried about how many buildings to pop down.

In any case it'll be a while before you have to really worry about it. So many biomes provide methods of producing O2, when it really boils down to it you can rely on geysers unless you're on a low activity world.

I'd like to point out that there are merits to guaging oxygen production.

"production will normalize"
Idealy yes, but you can have situations where a normal vent will pump too much oxygen into a room bursting eardrums and causing extra stress. *(for example, a hydrogen pocket of low density floating around the vent will trick it into thinking the pressure is low enough to let gas through)

Algae Terrariums dont give a F about pressure, so if you use those, they will NOT normalize, they will just keep building pressure up.

If you undershoot oxygen production, nothing normalizes and dupes suffocate.
If you over shoot too early, you can spend early game resources poorly and end up having problems down the road.

having a ballpark, and being safe is ideal imo.
However you can be cruel to them, forcing them to exist on far less oxygen than what they need, and you can give them so much their ears never heal, its quite flexible.

Extra note: Diver lungs lvl 2 should be only 50g/s
