More efficient way to make petroleum?
Hey all, is there a way to make petroleum easier other than oil refinery? Perhaps automating the refinery if possible? I know you can make petroleum by heating the oil to a certain temperature>pump it straight away as petroleum
Want to put fuel in the rocket but the fact that my poor dupes have to spin a wheel for the whole day to refine is not good.

If you want petroleum for plastic/power heating is the way to go, no other options. It might be either really simple (one aquatuner loop + some automation) if you have niobium/thermium or a little more complex if you do not.
After building oil boiler I produce small amounts of petroleum by heating some oil by hot sour gas.

Can't automate the refinery.
Look up petroleum boiler videos on youtube for your rocket fuel.
Or sour gas boiler for your general power needs.

yeah ultimately heating your oil is the better way to make petrolium. best bet is preheat your oil via using it for smelting, keep it in an insulated tank then use a thermo aqua tuner to bring it to the point of being petrol.

all of this is assuming you've got your power needs nailed down by this point, especially since your trying to launch a rocket with fuel beyond steam.

It's pretty easy. Heat Crude Oil to >=400C - but don't let it go above ~538C because then the Petroleum will vaporise to Sour Gas.

Yes I have a water (well, steam) geyser right next to an oil reservoir so that is taken care of.

Last colony died because I opened the "magma core" and there was nothing but sour gas lol. Will try to regulate it this time.
Thank you all for answers.

In vanilla game, boiling oil is hard and complicated, with mods it's much easier. The diffculty lies in fact that there is no object that temperature goes all the way to over 400 degress, that can be automated and allows to input the selected temperature.

If you want to do it vanilla way, use lava with some cooling to prevent the sour gas emergence.

Volcano paired with counter flow pipes is a vanilla solution, and a stupidly easy way to boil oil without fear of sour gas.
