drywall is ultimately what you can make for decorative background walls for rooms. though their primary function is to keep air inside a building in actual space.

Yes! Wallpaper! Very low resource usage (5kg tiles) that fill your background and colored by the materiel you use. Gives your base a finished look. Using drywall is expensive. There is a mod for drywall colors as well, I don't recall the name but it is paint or something. I have used the materiel color mod as well, but it always seemed to either be too dark or got disabled mid-game and required a restart. These issues may be fixed, as I have not checked on that particular mod in quite some time.
EDIT: Oh yeah, they also hide pipes and wires, but unfortunately do not increase decor by doing so. But man does it look good! I finish my entire base, but not areas past suit checkpoints unless I make an actual room for something, such as gas generation.
EDIT2: It does NOT replace drywall as it won't seal a room to space.
