Exosuits?
Okay, how do these work? I tried putting a docking stations next to a checkpoint, but now my dupes can't even go past that area. I'm extremly confused and I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. The exo suits would be really helpful, but my dupes won't even put them on now, or when I think I have the checkpoints in the right direction, i see them moving around the base with a suit on. Help?

Checkpoint has to point away from the dock(s). They divide the area nobody can go into without having an exosuit. You can have many docks connected to one checkpoint. Docks need big oxygen supply.

the exo suit is a double edge sword. It prevents any dupe from infection, suffication, and heat. But in exchange, it takes loads of power and o2. Also once a checkpoint is made, no dupes can pass that point w/o an exosuit so that forces you to create another exit for req dupes to go through.

You can disable the checkpoint if in trouble.

My suggestion is only use an exosuit if you are playing in the oil biome or steam geyser since hp is a hassle to deal with now with the pharma chamber being glitchy so you are force to use med bed to recover hp.

Uh... that's a bug? It's in the tooltip that it only affects Disease, not wounds or lost hitpoints.

Its a bug because the pharma chamber is still viewed as an hp recovery by the game even though it doesnt do that anymore. I had 2 of my dupes put in them for some reason to recover hp and they just stayed in there forever. I literally had to force them out to eat and use the washroom. Then they can walk around like normal even though their hp is 0.

As far as I can tell the biggest problem with the exo-suits is that the dupes make very short back-and-forth stints in them. If I tag an area for digging a dupe puts on a suit and navigates to the dig site. They usually then dig out one tile and go back to the checkpoint to do something else. At that point another dupe will repeat the above step. Suits have plenty of power and oxygen available and in fact when they are returned they barely have to be topped off.

So what ends up happening is that progress on tasks after I put in the exo-suit checkpoint slows down to a crawl.

To fix that, I usually lock the doors behind them and watch them work. It's likely a priority porblem as well, I've noticed if I set something to 5, it will NEVER get done! Setting the work area with a higher priority should fix that.
And honestly? I've given up on the suits for now. I really don't have a need for them, and I've got plenty of algea and slime on day 100ish to supply the areas with oxygen as needed. Still havent found an oil or steam source yet, But I'm working on it

The issue is not really the exosuit but more of the unpredictable of the dupe. I've noticed as long as you focus on 1 specific task, it gets done super fast. But the instant 2+ different task are queued, the job becomes a crawl.

The exosuit is made to tackle 2 issues. 1) is digging and tapping oil since those are super hot. 2) is to prevent germs for the inexperienced. Those that know how to deal with germs can mine an entire slime biome with 0 dupes sicken while the newer players will a have gotten their dupes completely sick.

Yeah, germs were never really a big issue with the vitamin chews and such. I've only gotten close to getting one of my dupes sick, and then she was just okay without me really doing much. Though, I've never used the chlorine trick, I just pump all the chlorine I have to where I grow WAY too many balm lillies. Have you noticed that the plants actaully use up atmosphere?
AquaX Oct 9, 2017 @ 9:13am
Did not know that but I had little to no use for vitamin chews. I usually divide my task to a slime biome and anywhere I might need. If 1 of my dupes drop too low, I just denied them access to that biome and switch them to the more cleaner biome. I also spread the chlorine from my geyser to as far and wide as possible.
Redlilycat Oct 9, 2017 @ 9:20am
Yeah, I might have to use that trick now that I'm going in later game. Since chlorine rises above CO2, it's really helpful because somehow polluted oxygen got into where I grow most of my plants. (I use that place as a CO2 dump because food won't rot in a sterile envirnemt, and apparently CO2 is sterile.)
AquaX Oct 9, 2017 @ 9:39am
Co2 is sterile but it's a weak version of chlorine. Chlorine is sterile AND kills any germs on food. Lately, I've been playing with dumping all my building materials and food inside chlorine that I pump from my geyser. It keeps all my stuff sterile from germs but stress gets kinda iffy.

Because exosuites are new and i wanted to try them i went crazy and built giant checkpoint with amount of docks/suites equal to number of dupes on the only exit from the base. Interestingly enough when they have enough suites for every dupe some odd things (like constantly picking materials from compactors and then dropping them on the floor) stop happening, and once most of the dupes are in the suites most of the time base do not need much oxyygen generation, i am at ~300 cycle with 12 dupes and still using single algae deoxydizer inside the base, and single electrolyzer + 2 pumps to feed suite docks.
Then, all the things you needed to care about outside the base are gone. Liquids on the floor are fine. Working hot (like ~100+C) machines is fine. Digging underwater or even oil is fine. Germs do not matter, temperatures do not matter. If dupe gets stuck because he is silly he will not die, because he has oxygen to survive at least full cycle. Also, if you want something done fast - set it to priority 9, make sure that dupes do not have to go through checkpoint for mats and they will work on it all day long without distractions. They even do not have to go to bathroom when in suite.

So IMO suites are amazing. Once set up properly they remove a lot of micromanagement and things to worry about. And simplify oxygen production too.

Yeah, exosuits are amazing, it adds a whole new level to the game. The only problem about exosuits for me is that sometimes the dupes cant return in time to sleep in their bedrooms if they are working far from the base :( But I also have only 1 base airlock/checkpoint)
