How to effectively block gases?
Building airlocks helps but eventually the gas would sneak into my base? Since each time the airlock opens the gas would push? You could build multiple airlocks but thats only delaying the leak? :S

Pump the gas back to the side it is leaking from. I use a atmo switch set low pressure if higher it start pumping for abit.

Yeah I thought about that, but the pumping system in this game is kinda bad imo.. Gas pumps are really inefficient, they only take gas from a few tiles around them.. if the leak gets out of range from the pump GG :(

Use water lock before entering the new gas area

water lock? whats that?

He means an area submerged with water that your dupes go through. Personally I'd build a tiny airlock with a gas pump putting the gas where it should go. Should be enough.

Use the same system used in RL, overpressureized inner area, if you have higher pressure in the inner are, than outside, the air/gas will flow outside, instead if inside, and no messing with your perfect inner sanctum. To help this, build the pump outside of the airlock, so it will reduce the pressure at the right place (and use the high pressure vent to keep that pump working.)

Go to my screenshots in my profile to see waterlock. Just do not allow the gas to mix until the water touches the center tile.

To block the flow of gases requires a minimum of 3 doors placed right on top of each other. When a Dupe passes through, they will stand in the middle door while waiting for the opposite side to open. During this time, the side they came from will close behind them. The doors on opposite sides should never be open at the same time, unless another Dupe is going through the assembly.

Yeah, this is a good method, but the downside is you can only allow 1 dupe to acces the doors, because otherwise they can open more than 1 door at a time and then you get screwed :S

For using multiple doors, you need 5 to be sure no gas pass through. 3-4 still works but some will pass eventually.

Keep in mind the kind of gas. One or two airlocks is fine for hydrogen. It just floats to the top of your base where you can burn it when you get one of them "round-toit" things. CO2 isn't a problem either; you are already scrubbing that out anyway so a little more won't be noticed. Natural gas is more of a pain. It drifts around getting in the way but it doesn't hurt anything. Use three airlocks to cut down the annoyance. When it builds up to much, use a pump with a filter to send it back to the power plant.
Chlorine is the bee in my bonnet. Even the tiniest bit sneaks in and it gravitates to my farms like a magnet. Then it just drifts around stopping plant growth and never going away. Trying to pump it out is a horror because there is no good place to send it. Running pipes to a chlorine area just means the idiot dupes will let more in. The only good solutions I've found:
1) Find one of those big chasms that is mostly H2. Vent it to the top of that and it will drift down and the H2 will keep it there.
2) (Hypothetical - I haven't actually tried this, but it should work) Build a box. Build the exhaust vent into it ahead of time so you don't ever need to open it. Pump all the air out. Then just fill it with chlorine. I doubt you will ever have pressure problems, but if you do just see 3.
3) Some people have had good luck with liqifying it. That takes some skill and access to the right stuff. It's also a big investment unless you have some use for the liquid chlorine. Perhaps as a coolant fluid. Or a gift for someone you don't like.
Needless to say: Build many airlocks if you have to go through chlorine. As many as you can stand but make them MECHANICAL airlocks. You know how dupes are: Go through five manual airlocks, needs to pee so goes back through five manual airlocks. Pees and goes out through five manual airlocks, decides it's a mite peckish so goes back through five manual airlocks. Eats and goes out through five manual airlocks, decides the microbe mushers needs 50kg of water so goes back through five manual airlocks. Goes out through five manual airlocks and...cycle over, nap time. You stare at the screen while they sleep. Then lock all the airlocks and pump all the air out of the base. It's a mercy, really.
Mechanical airlocks prevent euthanasia. Remember.

Chlorine is required to run the Ore Scrubber, which is pretty much mandatory if you're going to do any significant work in the Swamp Biome.

Chlorine is also the required atmosphere to sustain the growth of Balm Lilies -- they will accept nothing else. Balm Lilies are also kind of important to working in the Slime, via Vita Chews for the boost to Immunity.

That being said, you are correct, collecting and storing Chlorine is a pain.
