Showers - Are they pointless?

So they remove bacteria, sure. But so do handsanitizers and sinks. So what's the point?
They seem to consume alot of dupe time. I noticed that if you send a dupe into the slime biome, they will go inside, mine 1 ore and then run and shower. Rinse and repeat. It doesnt just waste time, but also alot of water.
So what purpose do they serve besides getting rid of bacteria? The Grimy debuff doesnt seem to do anything at all.

The Shower also removes Soggy Feet and Sopping Wet. Both of these, as well as Grimy, produce negative Stress modifiers.

There does come a point where that's not relevant anymore, though. For me, it always occurs before I have my water systems set up. When you can reach almost 300 Decor in your bedroom, Stress loses most of it's hold over you. Then they added the Nice Bathroom and Mess Hall bonuses...

Technically, shower just remove certain stress modifiers. But daily activities always regain them back so it is better of to just live with the stress instead of wasting water just to get it back the morning or working again.

They are not only pointless, but have huge negative effect, as you already noticed. Instead of working dupes spend 90% of time in shower.
IMO untill something is changed/fixed there is no need to build them at all.
