Power Transformer (Solved!)
So i'm kinda confused by this at the moment, I'm not sure if its a bug, or i'm totally blind and i've set up my power grid wrong, but I'm stil getting damage to my wires from apparetly too much power being transferd from my power transformer.
I swear i've set it up so that there SHOULD only be 1000kw's going to all my machine, but apparently thats not the case at the moment.
Any tips are welcome.
Heres a few screenies for refference.

My power generation area(There is a power transformer already in there)

My cable's leading to my battery bank, then through another power transformer to my machines.

Almost complete few of my set up. (Only running on those 3 coal gen's through my whole base)

First:
Your setup needs more than 1000 W (you run 3 coal generators for 1800W, if you would need only 1000W, you only need 2 coal generators for 1200 W), split your system into two consumer line (or more if needed)
Second:
If you have batteries anywhere beyond the transformators, they can push more than 1000W into that line (unlimited in theory), so you should never put more than 1000W consumer on a single line (gates can be considered zero consumers, but sometime they can couse problem too)

Ahhh, I see. This makes sence.
Thanks for your reply dude. I'll give it a shot and see if I can fix things. Break them up into two systems. Just had me confused, couldn't wrack my brain around what I was missing.

The Transformers need to be used in parallel, not in series. The way you have it set up there, it's still all 1 circuit.

You need to separate your devices into groups of up to 1000 W or less, and for each such group, connect it to a Transformer. Then connect all the Transformers to the Generator room and Battery Farm.

Ignoring the transformers for a moment standard 1000w power lines can only send up to 1000w however devices will try to draw their required amount regardless meaning that not only will there be not enough power flowing but it will overload the line.

The optimal setup for a power network that I have found is to direct all produced power into a battery bank on heavy cables then split that down per floor / 1000w or less chunks with a battery or two after the transformer, it's not optimal to use more then a single transformer across a standard power line as although they will save burnout of wires, devices on the end of the line may struggle to recieve power.

If you want to keep your current setup but prevent wire overload then add more transformers every few devices but keep in mind you will never be able to power all your devices as only 1000w will ever enter that system.

And example system, http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1126210003

Note that production and the main battery bank with the coal generaters on the bottom can supply max wattage to all transformers, inside those smaller networks secondary batteries provide standalone power reserves to that line of devices only.

Dumb question: am I reading correctly that the transformer consumes 120w of power?

I don't believe it does if it's part of the text it must be a bug, or simply old un-updated notes.

Yah, after getting the feedback, i started to notice that machines have a set amount of power they need at any given time. And like you guys said, the trasformer was not letting enough power through for all the machines. Its deffinatly not a game where you can just wack a bunk of machines together and expect it to run smoothly.

So problem solved.

This game is one of those games you are constently wracking your brain about. Even when you sleep! haha, I'll go to sleep thinking about problems that need solving, and wake up doing the same thing! XD Maybe thats just me :P

Thank you for all your insight, Its helped alot. :ss2heart:
