How to get more seeds from a crop?
Any other way to get seeds other than searching for them in buried objects? Ran out of mealwood seeds for my mealwood farm.

If you see to the needs of your crops, you will increase their food yield as well as receiving Seeds when you harvest. Plants have ideal ranges for Temperature and Pressure, and when you unlock different farming tiles can be Fertalized and Irrigated to further improve them.

For Mealwood, specifically, you only get Seeds on Excellent rating, but you get them on EVERY Excellent rating. If you've already run out of Mealwood, you'll have to hope you still have some Buried Objects in the starting biome that, hopefully, contain them.

to get an excellent rating, you need to fulfill specific requirements for the crop. These are shown when you click on the farm tile while the crop is planted. Also the seeds drop on the 3rd harvest

If you haven't tried this yet, get some Sleet Wheat going (that one that you find in the cold biomes). It doesn't have extra seeds, the crop is the seed, and you get a handful per harvest even when the conditions are not perfect. Ignore irrigation, just have some in regular farm tiles, provide fertilizer and you'll have a pretty much guaranteed foodsource.

Then you can experiment with setting up farms for other stuff without risking starvation.
