Meh, seems fine as it is. You are given a cheap tool to reach places you need to that your duplicates cannot reach, when done, you get 100% of your resources back.
Likely why you get everything back when deconstructing and will most likely not be the case come full release.
my bedrooms are 4 high so i can fit lamps, beds and a painting, one row of gas permeable tiles and some algea terrariums in a 2 high room below.
What could need changing would be that dupes dig from top to bottom like building a ladder/framework and digging it layer by layer downwards.
Uprooting plants or destroying buildings (many of them in big rooms) just to be able to get lamps and lines into the ceiling is stupid and an assload of micromanagement (exactly the thing you DO NOT want in games like these) and completely anti immersion.
Should have been changed years ago.
You can only reach 4 tile high. Meaning you can build a roof standing on flat ground.
I get the mod that increase dig ranch by 1. It makes life so much easier.
If you are use the the 4 tile bottle neck great. If you used the 1 tile more you'd never want to do back.
